The horrific hallucinations from the drugs had worn off and Katie still felt a slight buzz, but it only tapped into her emotional side. She cried for a long time over her lack of control and that Lane has not rescued her from the hallucinations. For dinner, Katie wasn't allowed to eat with the rest of the girls due to misbehavior. The blonde stayed in bed and wept for her lover to come save her.

By morning, Katie had sobered up enough to be aware of her surroundings but she still felt the buzz. She went to breakfast and ate quietly, starved. But she noticed something that is different than before. Most of the girls, whom had first sat away from her to cast her out, all sit near her. Cassie sits next to the blonde, eating quiet as well.

"Why aren't they sitting with Alex?" Katie notices the curvy brunette sitting with the small group of Happy Helpers, "Isn't she, like, the mean girl whom everyone gravities towards?"

"The g-girls t-think you were very b-brave." Cassie continues to stare down into her bowl of eggs and diced ham, her voice low. "I do t-too."

Brave? Ha! Katie smirks slightly, I've never dreamed of being called that before.

Katie suddenly thinks of Lane and how he'd react to her being called brave. She struggles to hold back her tears as she misses him deeply, desperately.

If I could just have one more chance to be with Lane, I'd obey what he tells me. Katie sniffs as she stirs her eggs and diced ham. I'd be the sweet, innocent, precious, fragile doll he wants to display on the shelf for everyone to see but never touch. I don't think I'd ever be able to let him go if I could just hold him once more.

"T-They want to b-be your friend." Cassie interrupts Katie's thoughts, "I-I can s-s-see why."

The blonde wipes her tears and stretches a smile at her new friend. "Really? You know, people back home would laugh at the fact the girls here think I'm brave."

"W-Why are you crying?" Cassie asks worriedly, her face full of shock.

"I'm thinking about my boyfriend-" Katie thinks back to their fight, "Well, he used to be my boyfriend anyways."

"Oh." Cassie slowly nods, looking back down at her bowl. "What happened?"

"We got into a bad fight." Katie purses her lips as she sniffs, wiping her puffy eyes. "He kicked me out and then I was kidnapped to be used against him or something like that...I doubt he'd even care to come look for me."

"H-He doesn't sound too good." The redheaded talks slower to smooth her words out.

"He was." Katie smiles at the memories the two had shared together. "I messed everything up and pushed him past his limits until he couldn't even stand to be in the same building as me...I guess I got exactly what I deserve."

Cassie leans her head against her friend's shoulder. "If h-he truly loved yo-you, then he'd for-forgive you."

The blonde smiles at her friends words of comfort. But he's Lane West, the biggest crime lord in all of Washington State. He doesn't let love become his master. He is his own master. And he doesn't allow anyone to challenge him and win.

Alex and the Happy Helpers begin to walk through the cafeteria, eyeing the room of girls who remain silent with their heads down.

"Listen up!" Alex announces as she walks, "Sister Sarah told me to give the word that everyone must take the candy our wonderful beneficiaries-Mr. Barclay and Mr. McGinness-has provided for us. We don't want to disappoint them or hurt their feelings, do we? We don't have it like most girls but we still have each other, our fellow caretakers, and our beneficiaries."

As Alex speaks, Katie fake gags. Cassie softly chuckles at her friends mock like action. The girls all begin to whisper between each other, voices rising in the room. Those who were sobered up had witnessed what happened when someone refused to take the candy.

Alex looks to Katie then, a smug smirk like expression on her face. "Oh, and Abomination? Do as you're told from now on."

It takes Katie's all not to rise from her seat and rip Alex to pieces. To punch her as hard as she had punched her the afternoon before. The blonde immediately swears that somehow, one way or another, Alex was going to get a taste of her own medicine.

Hey readers! I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about drugs or how long they stay in effect with your brain. So if I got any of this wrong, I apologize. Katie had NEVER abused or done drugs before. Maybe prescription drugs but that's all.
