• Lane + Katie's bedroom (above) •

After dinner, Katie stood outside on the porch of the house calling for her dogs but they never came. To cheer herself up, the blonde went upstairs to help her friend dye her hair with the orange dye the mixed girl had bought herself. If it hadn't been for Max to stop her, Cassie would have accidentally switched both Rebel and Lola's hair dyes.

Seeing as she was unneeded and really a waste of space, Katie searches for the one place where she knew she was always needed: Lane's arms. As the blonde went down the stairwell, being taunted by the haunting Victorian picture that hung on the dark walls, she smells smoke from the screen door. Katie steps onto the bottom step of the stairwell, her lip pouting as she secretly peers over the corner.

Through the screen door, the blonde can see Lane leaning against one of the column's on the porch. A cloud of smoke blows into the air from his lips.

He looks so peaceful. Katie thinks to herself sadly, lowering her head. I won't disturb him. Lane rarely has these peaceful moments go himself.

Feeling lonely, the blonde decided to head upstairs to get dressed for the night. Katie climbs up the steps with pouty lips, feeling as if the stairs were never ending.

When Katie finally makes it to their bedroom, the bedroom at the top of the house, she is out of breath. She closes the door behind her and pulls the curtains down so none from far away can catch a sight of her undressing. The blonde quickly strips from her clothes and puts on her pastel pink pajamas with hot pink bunnies on them.

Katie goes into the private bathroom and begins to brush her teeth. A distant creaking sound gets her attention. She listens intensely, hearing the creaking increase. Eventually, the blonde realizes that it's the stairs. Someone us using the stairs.

Oh what fun that will be to hear every morning. Katie rolls her green eyes in annoyance.

Suddenly, the door to the bedroom opens. The smell of cigarette smoke trails to the bathroom, where Katie spits out her toothpaste and gargles with warm water. Lane appears in the doorway as she spits into the sink.

"You're going to bed early?" Lane arches a brow at her, leaning against the doorframe. "I thought we'd have a little fun tonight."

"You smell like a chimney." Katie says softly as she wipes the toothpaste from her mouth with a tissue.

The blue eyed man arches a brow at her. "Did I do something wrong?"

The blonde shakes her head slowly, not looking to him. "No, I'm just sad I guess."

"You're sad? Why?" Lane walks over and puts his hands on her hips, turning her around to face him. "Why is my girl so sad?"

Katie shrugs, not meeting his eyes. "I don't know..."

"Come. I know what will change this depressed mood of yours." Lane takes her hand and guides her into the bedroom. "The good thing about this house is that the doors can lock. No interruptions."

"Smart." The blonde softly smiles, unenthused.

"Hey, talk to me." Lane gently holds the side of her face, tilting her head up so she has to look him in the eyes. "What's wrong?"

In all honesty, I have no idea. Katie thinks to herself. I just feel like I've been dropped from a ten story building onto concrete.
