• Max Slate, Axel Durmont, & Katie Fairfield as they grocery shop above •
Lane sent everyone but Jett, Phoenix, and Lola downtown to buy groceries at the County Mart and clothes at the Apple Bottom Thrift Store. When the two Cadillac's parked alongside Max on her motorcycle, both Margo and Rebel dashed towards Apple Bottom. Frankie rolls his eyes as he trails after them in annoyance.
"Don't buy any of that girly shit!" Frankie calls over his shoulder at them, speeding up his pace to catch up with the two girls. "None if those fancy salads, ya hear!"
Katie looks to Axel amused. "Is he always so charming?"
"He's usually a huge dick." Max walks past Katie, "Today he's actually in a good mood."
The blonde looks to Axel in surprise. He nods to her and motions for her to follow them into the grocery store.
As Katie steps into County Mart, the smell of lemony cleaning supplies and cold meats fills her nostrils. Katie's eyes widen at the largeness of the grocery store. Her uncle, Gail, never let her go to the store in case she were to waste his money on junk food or food that wasn't quite what he wanted. The last time she had went to the store was for her grandparents when they were ill.
Katie happily grabs a shopping cart, awing at it's smallness. I remembered them being much bigger.
The blonde quickly trails after Max and Axel, who head to the meat section. Katie walks with a bounce in her step, enjoying a new activity. The blonde takes out the list Lane had written out from a small note pad in his office. She reads it as she follows the two Dirty Knives gang members.
"Lane says that we need bottles of water, meat, cleaning supplies, snacks, packs of cigarettes," Katie gags at the thought of the ashy taste the crime lord had in his mouth as he kissed her, "can goods, bread, laundry detergent, and milk."
Max gives the blonde an arched brow. "You seem awfully excited for grocery shopping. What? You had a butler to do the all the shopping or salad and fancy soups?"
The blonde smirks at Max's playful teasing. "No, Uncle Gail was always afraid that I'd buy whatever he didn't like so he bought everything we ate."
The girl with the pixie cut smirks, "Did your personal chef make you soups and salads or gourmet dishes?"
Axel gives her a warning look. Katie smiles softly at Max, feeling a little insulted at her continuous poke at her higher upbringing.
"Well, I tried to, but I can't grill pork steaks or steaks." Katie shrugs, remembering when she used to cook for her uncle. "That's why he ate out a lot and I had to eat a lot of salads and soups...that and he wanted me to keep my figure perfect in case I didn't get into college and had to marry well."
The two gang members exchange a looks, speaking in unison. "You cook?"
"Yes, I do." Katie nods as she looks at the high dollar prices meats. "I can make mushroom pork chops in a crockpot. I can scramble eggs or make them sunny side up with bacon...I can make spaghetti too."
Max smirks, nodding to Axel knowingly. "One cook dead, another takes his place."
Axel furrows his brows at her. "Don't be a bitch, Max. Boss won't expect her to cook all the time like Ace did."
