• How Lane West & Katie Fairfield looks at each other •
Given she had received the easiest chore due to her night spent with Lane, Katie had felt bad for others whom didn't have her luck. She at least helped Max with the dishes and Rebel with laundry. The blonde knew that she couldn't stay long to help out because Lane could possibly catch her and think the others were taking advantage of her. Katie had helped Rebel fold the big pieces of laundry before going to his office where the crime lord resigns.Katie knocks on the office doors before taking a peak inside. Lane sits at his desk reading a book, rubbing across his creased forehead.
"Lane?" Katie softly calls to him, biting her lower lip. "Am I bothering you?"
The crime lord looks up from his book, his eyes widening when he sees the beautiful blonde standing halfway in the door. A smirk like smile appears on his face.
"Are you done collecting trash?" Lane chews on a toothpick.
Katie slips completely through the office doors, standing in front of them with her hands behind her back. "Yes, I just finished."
Lane nods slowly, closing his book. They're eyes are locked together. The crime lord rises from his desk chair and makes his way over to the blonde. Katie bites her lip at the realization that they haven't been together since this morning. She gets lost in her own thoughts.
Lane stops a few feet away from her, his eyes slanted with suspicion. "You're stuck in that door. What're you hiding from me?"
Katie arches a brow at him. "I'm not hiding anything."
"Then why are you so stuck in that door?" Lane tilts his head, his eyes unreadable.
The blonde blinks. "I just got lost in thought I guess."
Lane slowly walks over to her, his warm hands placing themselves on her hips. "What has you so far away from me?"
Butterflies flutter in her stomach at his touch. "We haven't been alone since this morning."
Lane licks his lips and squints his eyes, not completely convinced. He reaches out and pulls her into his embrace. Katie nearly trips but her hands grasp onto his muscular chest for support. She suddenly feels his arms holding her tightly to him. He smiles down at her amused.
"Is that so distracting?" Lane asks her low toned, his face soft.
Katie stares up into his eyes, getting lost in them and his embrace. She doesn't even hear his question. Her eyes slant lazily as her mind begins to focus on his lips. Her hands rub up his chest and start to wrap around his neck but he pulls his head away as her hands make skin to skin contact with his neck. His arms tighten around her.
"Something is distracting you." Lane tells her, his voice firmer. "Tell me what it is. Now."
While Katie had helped Rebel fold laundry, the two girls chatted about what had happened the night before between the blonde and the crime lord. It was all giggles until the mixed girl asked Katie what she loved most about her lover. It made her realize that she knew nothing about him besides his name, his job, and his favorite candy. It has been stuck in her mind ever since.
Katie purses her lips as she lets out a sigh, her hands gently holding onto his shoulders. "Can we talk?"
Lane squints at her curiously, his hands holding her sides. "Depends. What are we going to talk about?"
"We don't know each other very well." Katie shakes her head, her ponytail bouncing. "And yet, we made love last night."
Lane takes a few deep breaths in, searching her green eyes. "What more do you want to know?"
The blonde softly smiles, her hands rubbing down his muscular chest and under his arms so she can be closer to his body.
"Everything." Katie answers truthfully, "You're a mystery I want-no, you're a mystery I need to solve. I can't keep my mind off of what you could be hiding from me."
"Is that all that interest you? That I'm a mystery that you need to solve?" Lane asks her softly, his hands rubbing her back. A soft smirk appears on his face. "If so, then maybe I need to remain a mystery to keep you on your toes."
Katie gives him a look, her green eyes wide. "No! I want you, Lane."
Lane crashes his lips against hers, kissing he firmly. The blonde pulls his body close, holding his muscular back with her thin arms. He softly parts the kiss, his forehead against hers.
"Join me." Lane smiles down at her with a mischievous smile, "I'll be the one wearing a blue sweater on the green couch."
Katie chuckles at his humor. They part, letting each other go. Lane goes to the velvet green couch, sitting down with his arm laying across the top. The blonde follows him, fitting between his arm that rest on the head of the couch and his side. Almost as if fitting a puzzle piece. The blue eyed man smiles warmly at her, a rare expression he seldom gives. Katie cuddles his side with a blush.
"What's your favorite color?" Katie regrets her words immediately, feeling stupid for asking a silly question.
"Look at me." Lane commands, Katie looks at him to see the softness in his ocean blue eyes. "Green, like a field of grass."
The blonde smiles at his answer. He softly nudges her.
"What's yours?" Lane shifts his body so his body is slightly turned towards hers.
"Blue," Katie blushes lightly, biting her lower lip as she stares into his eyes happily "like the ocean."
Lane leans down and gently kisses her lips. Katie tastes the chocolate from the M&M's, giggling. She holds his face as she kisses him more passionately before pulling away.
The blonde stares deeply into his eyes, her fingers playing with the hairs of his sideburns. "Where's your favorite place to be kissed?"
"The lips." Lane tells her, "I hate to be kissed anywhere other than the lips."
The blonde arches a brow, her fingers continuing to play with his side burns. "Really? Why?"
"It makes me feel...deeply uncomfortable." Lane admits, shivering at the thought. "It's nothing personal. I just hate being kissed anywhere other than the lips."
"Have you ever been in love?" Katie asks sweetly.
Lane suddenly turns away from her, a look of displeasure on his face. "Love is a foolish thing to invest in."
Katie stares at him puzzled, more shocked than confused. So he doesn't love me?
"It controls the mind...like a master..." Lane lifts his arm from the head of the couch and puts it to his side, forcing Katie to scoot over to give his arm space. "And I don't serve a master."
Katie sits there in silence staring at him for a long time. "Then why did you call it making love if you don't mean it?"
Lane looks to the blonde then, his eyes wide. Her words had shocked him. He begins to speak when the phone rings on Lane's desk. Taking this opportunity, Katie stands up.
"I'll give you your privacy." Katie quickly dismisses herself, walking to the door.Lane starts to rush after her but before he can reach the door, the blonde had disappeared.
