• what Katie sees from back of van above •

The wind bites at Katie's skin as she walks down the side of the road. She had been walking for thirty minutes, fog clouding the path ahead of her. Her heart is torn in her chest, leaving her feeling numb.

He'll regret how he treated me! Katie thinks spitefully, I was good to him and he was mean to me! Just like my Uncle Gail!

Katie crosses her arms, shivering. Coyotes howl in the distance. The blonde's eyes and mouth widen, fear filling her. She walks quicker down the road, squinting through the fog.

Just because it's cold and there's wild animals out here that would love to make a meal out of me- The howls get louder, closer. Katie begin to run. Forget it! I want Lane! I want my warm bed! I want Rebel! And I want Lane's strong arms! I want to sit in his lap and have him hold me! I want it all back! I want it back!

Up ahead, headlights shine through the fog. Katie holds her hand out, squinting.

Lane? Katie hopes, Oh please let it be him! I'd do anything for it to be Lane!

Katie stays on the side of the road, waving her arms. "Hey! Hey!"

As the car comes closer, Katie can see that it is a dark van. She stops waving her arms, stepping farther away from the road to be less noticeable. The dark van begins to slow down. The blonde's heart begins to race faster.

Please don't stop! Please don't stop! Katie looks around to see nothing but dark woods, And no place to go to avoid this abduction scene. Great!

The dark van draws near. Katie continues on, walking faster. The van slowly pulls up beside her, driving slow.

"Eh! Is that you, Lass?" A familiar Scottish voice fills the air.

Katie freezes, slowly turning around to see Barclay sitting with a group of rough looking men in the van with a unicorn on the side. The national symbol of
Scotland. Relief flows over the blonde. She smiles at him softly.

"What the hell are you eh doing out here?" Barclay's voice is filled with worry. "You'll catch your death out here! Get inside and I'll take ya home, Lass."

Joy fills Katie. "Thank you so much, Mr. Barclay!"

"No, please. I insist." The Scotsman opens the backseat door for her, his arm open for her. "A pretty thing like ya shouldn't be put here to fend for herself."

Katie slips into the backseat, feeling the heat from the heater flow over her face. She shivers her chill off, being surrounded by warmth. The van doors slam shut, making Katie flinch.

"You're practically frozen!" Barclay scoots closer to her, rubbing her arms for warmth. "Why were you walking alone? Where is West? Was there any trouble?"

Thank God Barclay found me when he did. Katie thinks, Kind of funny though that he found me when he did.

"I went for a walk...I couldn't find my way back and I got lost." Katie lies, not wanting to give away that Lane cast her out. "I guess that's what I get for taking a walk at night, huh?"
