• the inside of the white Cadillac •
One white and two black Cadillac's move through the hilly back roads. Snow still remains on many parts of the ground. Katie stares at the leafless trees they pass by, seeing an army of stick figures on a white piece of paper.
Lane stares at her with amusement, taking in the portrait before him. The way the corner of Katie's lip is slightly curled in fascination, her silky blonde hair naturally curled at the tips. Her hands buried between her bare, pressed thighs to keep each finger warm. But Lane's favorite part of the masterpiece before him was the awe that lights up Katie's eyes as if she were witnessing a miracle.
Lane tugs his coat closer to his body, slightly shivering. It's chilly, isn't it?
"Axel, turn up the heat." Lane commands firmly.
The new second in command nods to his boss, turning the knob on the heater/AC. "Yes, Boss."
Lane pats the free space between them, motions with for her to come closer to him. "Come here."
Katie, stubborn, shakes her head. "I-I'm fine."
"It's below freezing and you decide to wear a short skirt with a thin sweater!" The blue eyed man rolls his eyes in annoyance, "Am I going to have to dress you from now on?"
"Will you please stop? I'm fine." Katie's teeth chatters as she shivers. "I-I'm not complaining."
Lane heavily sighs, grabbing her wrist. Katie looks to him wide eyes with surprise. Her body is effortlessly pulled between Lane's arms and warm chest.
The blue eyed man motions at her pink leather jacket. "Take it off and cover those legs."
Katie does as she's told and unzips her pink, leather jacket. The chill in the car passes through her cream colored, tight, knit sweater. Shivering, the blonde puts her jacket on her thighs. Lane pulls his coat open, wrapping her inside with him. Katie cuddles against his right side and chest for warmth.
Lane presses his cheek against her hair, closing his eyes. "You'll be warm in a few minutes."
"Lane?" Katie's soft voice sends butterflies in his stomach.
Smirking, Lane pulls her closer to him. "No, you don't have to ask. Just tell me."
"When's your birthday?" Her question takes Lane by shock.
His ocean blue eyes flies open. He had not expected her to ask him about his birthdate. Axel smiles softly in the drivers seat, loving the innocence to her question. Lane notices this and glares at his second in command in the rear view mirror. Axel's smile quickly fades into a tight, straight line.
"Who wants to know?" Lane answers slowly.
"Me?" She softly chuckles, "I'm madly in love with you and yet there's still so much I don't know about you."
Lane looks down at her, his double chin apparent. "What do you want to know?"
"When's your birthday? What's your favorite food? What movies do you prefer? Do you look more like your father, or your mother?" Katie begins to ramble, excitement in her voice, "When can I meet your sister? Is she your twin-"
The blue eyed man puts a hand over her mouth, silencing her. She stares up at him with wide eyes, waiting for an answer.
"One question at a time." Deep creases form on his forehead, a small smirk on his face. "And you have to answer your own question as well."
