• Emma Langton's, Wesley's (AKA Lane West) grandmother, wedding ring •

In the parlor, Katie sits on the paisley couch with Rebel and Cassie as they admire her ring. The two girls squeal with happiness at their friend explains how Lane had partially proposed to her.

"It was his grandmother, Emma's, ring." The blonde blushes as she stares at the ring, "It's so pretty."

"W-Wow!" Cassie pushes her glasses up her nose, "You're so lucky!"

"I guess." Katie shrugs, giggling happily.

"I'm so happy for you, Angel." Rebel beams at her friend, "I'm glad you're getting your fairytale ending."

The blonde stops and thinks for a moment, her smile fading. Lane had made no promise to marry her nor did Katie believe she was going to live happily ever after due to Lane's status as lord of all crime in Washington State. Rebel swings an arm over her friends shoulder, staring at her worriedly.

"What's wrong, Angel?" The mixed girl plays with the natural curls in Katie's ponytail.

"I don't think Lane actually meant this as a proposal." She frowns sadly, looking down at the ring. "It's like the necklace-it's a symbol of our love, but it's not a promise that we'll get married."

Rebel nods in understanding while Cassie looks between the two girls confused. After waiting for an explanation, the redhead finally speaks up.

"Am I missing something here?" Cassie arches a brow at the two girls, frowning. "Why would be g-give you a ring i-if he wasn't p-p-pro-proposing?"

"Well, first of all, look at her." Rebel grabs Katie's jaw, making The blonde's cheek puff up. "She's a fucking doll. Look at her!"

Cassie smirks, winking playfully. "She is pretty cute."

The mixed girl furthers her explanation, letting Katie go. "Angel's already has a target on her back for having the last name Fairfield."

Katie arches a brow as she looks off, nodding at Rebel's words. That is true.

"If she married Boss, she'd then be Mrs. Lane Whatever-his-middle-name-is West." The mixed girl nods, "Katie's been kidnapped-twice and she's been roughed up several times. Can you imagine if Katie wasn't just boss's girlfriend, but, like, his wife? There would not just be a target on her back, there'd be one on her head too."

"Didn't think of it like that." Cassie frowns, looking down in her lap. "'Guess having power makes you vulnerable."

"At least it's a symbol that you're his." Rebel nods, patting Katie's shoulder. "Its more than what some of us have."

"How's the love life going with Ryder?" The blonde quickly changes the subject.

The mixed girl rolls her eyes with a heavily sigh. "It's not. He's a fuckboy."

Katie frowns, turning to Cassie. "What about you? Has Elijah made a move in on you yet?

The redhead shakes her head. "I'm non-existent to him...all he cares about is gaining Lane's trust."

The blonde arches a brow at her friend, suspicion filling her. "Gaining Lane's trust? Why? Does he have something planned?"

The two girls give Katie a confused look. She looks between them expectantly but gets no answer.
