It's not enough to have anyone that can understand you as a partner for your bed
Society is so fundamentally sick that it doesn't even know how to love anymore
It looks at love as a checklist - a meeting of conditions
If you're the one to break those standards of conversation and show too much emotion
You're written off as someone that cannot be allowed to function in normal society
Older people walk around, miserable old people I may add,
As if they are at complete happiness with where they are at life
Never mind the existential angst of knowing that they've spent
Half their life in an unhappy marriage
They (subconsciously) would rather you suffer because it makes them feel better about themselves
You can't teach an unlovable person how to love
Though they will claim to "love themselves"
No matter how much you love them, you cannot convince them that you would treat them better
Though, make no mistake,
The love that you hold onto for them will put them asleep through all their lonely nights, even when they won't admit it to you
