Death came so suddenly
Her ego giving weight beneath her

There was no longer any room for her to survive
So to survive, she had to make up fairytales

She forgot the legends of the old, forgot that they were real, and pretended that she was / that she is normal

She felt her heart give out from underneath her
Like she were falling through 5 layers of quicksand

There was no telling when death happened
But when it did, it had his smile
And she knew, she knew deep in her gut, that she would never recover from his touch

Death had abandoned her here
In the concrete jungle
In the buildings rising out into the sky

Death told her that she no longer existed
And she believed it

Death told her to shut up
And so she did
