Epilogue #2

The knife at my throat fell away as I shifted. They stepped away as I pinned them with a steely glare. My ears pricked at the sound of thunder overhead.

I looked away from them for a split second, a mistake if I were in battle, into the awaiting storm. Lightning flashed like a welcoming embrace.

Grief stabbed me in the heart, yet again, as I imagined my daughter flying through storms like this. Her silver scales made her look like another bolt of lightning, flashing across the sky.

I blinked, the memory fading. No, not now, focus. My metal leg was the only sound against the stone floor as I stalked through the hallways. I was a shadow given life. My ebony hood covering my, now, silver hair, while my cape flowed behind me.

A flick of my hand had lightning frying the cables that ran down to the security cameras, lining the halls.

My eyes had shifted so I could see better, letting them take in the minute details. My left hand twitched. It had been too long since I had a sword in my hands, and I longed for Inferno to return to my side.

I saw a light down the hallway to my left. I smiled before turning down it, and as the light grew brighter, I knew I was heading the right way.

Double doors blocked my entrance to the room I needed. A single bolt of electricity had them opening for me.

I stood in the entrance, a smile on my face as my cape stilled. I stared from the shadows out at a room full of 'scientists' and an injured Scauldron.

They turned to me as I sent a single bolt of electricity to the lightbulb overhead, pitching the entire room into shadows.

I was darkness, the space between stars.

I was...

The Dragon Prince.

Yes, this one is a lot shorter than the previous epilogue. I can't wait to see you all in Arc 4!!! But that won't be posted for a while because I need to fix up these books first! :)
