It might look a bit hectic but that's the Arcadian strip the willow, my favourite dance that we do :)

So, social dancing is what every high school student in Scotland (to my knowledge anyway) does near Christmas for our socials (Christmas parties basically), social dancing is apart of our curriculum because we need these dances for weddings or ceilidhs or anything like those. Social dancing is torture for some but I kinda like it and it's a tradition that I actually like :)

I'm gonna try and explain the dances as best as I can but it's hard because I can't find the proper dances and I can't post videos of me doing the dances on here :/

So enjoy Pingu's! Unless your from Scotland, then you're reliving torture ;)

It was nearing Christmas time and every student at Midtown Tech knew what that meant. Social dancing was starting up again. Some loved it while others loathed it.

Peter was one of the students who loves and hates social dancing, his favourite is strip the willow because it's hectic, fun and dangerous. (My mam knew someone who got slammed into the wall and broke their arm while doing the strip the willow when she was in school (don't know if she was the cause of it or not lmao) and I've been flung upwards by my friends because I'm light and I nearly kicked my other friend in the stomach lmao)

Peters favourite line dance was the Rhianna one, where you tap the floor in front of you with you right heel twice, then behind you with your toes, then once in front, once behind, turn to the left, point with left leg, cross over and point with right, cross your right leg over your right, step behind with the left and spin around and do it all over again until the music stops. (That's the song for it, there's another song but it's not as fun) Everyone's left leg hurts afterwards because you bounce on that leg, meaning all of your weight is on that leg.

His favourite part was when the beat drops and he can really get into it.

Peters favourite group dance was the Arcadian strip the willow where the top couple spin around for 16 beats before going down the line, one person, the 'girl' goes down the 'boy' line and the 'boy' goes down the 'girl' line until the end and when the first couple get to the third couple or something like that, the next top couple turn for 16 and do the same thing, it's fun, hectic and dangerous.

Peters favourite partner/progressive (I think that's the word) dance is St Paddy's Jig (or reel, I can't remember lmao) where you hit the floor with either your left or your right heel once, depending what side your on, then your toe at your heel of the other foot then repeat that step and skip for three-ish beats then repeat those steps but with the other leg then you high five your partner with your right hand three times, then left hand and then both hands and then your knees before turning with your partner and going to the next person and repeating those steps. (Heel toe heel toe one two three four heel toe heel toe one two three four right right right left left left both both both knee knee knee and le spin, that's how I remember it lmao)

Peters second favourite partner dance is the military two step but I can't remember how that goes lmao so here's a video that I managed to find! Whenever he's with Ned, they have a competition to see who can kick the highest and let's just say that someone (Peter) keeps ripping his joggers. (My sister ripped her jeans when she tried to do the splits in primary 7)
