Emma's POV

"Alright Shadow." I say as I finished getting dressed in my hoodie that smells like Jessie. "Let's head down stairs."

We got back from the game an hour ago and had recovery then we were told to shower then come back down for dinner.

I haven't been able to call Jessie because my phone died on the way back to the Hotel.

Shadow yips then the two of us leave the room and walk down stairs as I call Jessie.

Cell service in the elevators suck so we're walking down stairs.

"Hello?" Jessie says.

"I'm so sorry I didn't call earlier." I say. "My phone died on the way back to the hotel, then I had to get Shadow warm again after she almost got hypothermia, and..."

"Emma breathe." My wife says then I do. "Now what happened with Shadow?"

I'm pretty sure Jessie is focusing on Shadow so I don't worry too much about the kids.

"Well." I say then I explain everything that happened with Shadow.

Shadow's doing a lot better now that she's in a warm building.

Alyssa googled and called a vet to come look at Shadow once we got back to the hotel and the vet said Shadow didn't have hypothermia, but was very close and we did the right things when warming her back up.

I'm still gonna buy Shadow a vest, a jacket, and whatever else I can think of so that she never gets that cold again.

"So she's okay?" Jessie asks.

"Yep." I say as Shadow and I reach the ground floor. "She's walking next to me."

"Good."

"So what's wrong with the kids?" I ask through my phone as Shadow and I walk in to the team meeting room.

"WE WISH YOU A MERRY..." A bunch of my teammates start singing as I walk in the room.

"Not now." I say, but my teammates are singing too loud so they can't hear me. "Baby I'm putting you on mute for a second."

"Alright." Jessie says then I mute my phone.

"SHUT UP." I shout causing everyone in the room to shut up. "Now is not the damn time."

After I cut off the singing I unmute my wife.

"So what'd the doctor say about the kids?" I ask.

"The doctor said they have chickenpox and Croup." Jessie says.

"Fuck."

"But I don't really understand any of the stuff she said."

"Do you want me to see if Freya can help?"

"Yes please."

"I'm gonna bring her up to my room then I'll call back." I say then I quickly walk over to Freya.

"Okay." My wife says then she hangs up as I get to Freya.

"What's Wrong?" Freya asks.

"Can you help me with something in my room?" I ask as I look at Hope's Fiancée.

Freya Proposed to Hope on a family vacation they had with Armani and Savannah after my wedding.

When I found out about the engagement I teasingly told Hope and Freya that their next daughter should be named after the person who introduced them, i.e. me.

After the engagement Hope asked Freya if she wanted to be her twins', Armani and Savannah, other mom.

Freya quickly agreed and now their one big happy family.

"Of course." Freya says then myself, Shadow, and the team doctor leave the meeting room and head up to my room.

When we get to my room Shadow heads to her bed, jumps on it, and lays down, while Freya and I sit on one of the couches in the living room.

I always get the suites on the floor because I'm captain and because the team want Shadow to have room to roam and play.

Once we're sat down I call my wife back.

"Hi Sharky." Jessie says.

"Hey Freckles." I say. "Freya's with me now."

"What's going on Jessie?" Freya asks.

"Well the kids didn't look well last night when we went to bed and when we got up this morning they weren't any better so I took them to a local urgent care place and the doctor there told me I needed to go down the street to the Hospital so I did." Jessie says.

"Right." Freya says.

"And the doctors at the hospital told me that the kids have chickenpox and croup." Jessie says. "But the stuff the doctor said to treat them makes zero sense."

"Well what did they say?" Freya asks.

Jessie sigh's then she tells Freya everything the doctor told her.

Freya then goes over everything and makes it more understandable then she tells Jessie what to do.

After Freya explains everything she kisses my head then she leaves the room.

"Do you want me to come to Toronto?" I ask.

Jessie's in Toronto for Canada's last two friendlies of the year.

"I have my parents to help out." Jessie says. "They already told me they'd pick us up and take us back to their house to help the kids get better."

"So what do you want me to do?" I ask.

"Stay in Europe." Jessie says. "This makes more sense now so I think my parents and I are more than capable of taking care of the twins."

"Are you sure?" I ask.

"Yes Emma." Jessie says. "We'll be fine."

"Call if you need me." I say. "Or just call when the kids wake up."

"I will." My wife says. "My parents just pulled up so I gotta go."

"Okay." I say. "Hey Jessie?"

"Yeah Baby?" My wife says.

"I love you."

"I love you too Emma." Jessie says making me smile. "Get something to eat and I'll call you when the kids wake up."

"Okay." I say. "Bye Freckles."

"Bye Sharky." My wife says then we both hang up.

After I hang up with my wife, Shadow comes over and lays her head on my thigh's.

"Hi Girl." I say as I stroke Shadow's head. "You feeling better?"

Shadow smiles at me so I pat the bed next to me then my service dog jumps on the bed and sits next to me.

"We've had one hell of a day." I say as I love on Shadow.

"EMMA." Someone shouts from outside the door then I cover Shadow's ears.

"IT'S OPEN." I shout then I uncover Shadow's ears.

The door to my room opens then Ash, Tobin, Alyssa, Lindsey, and Hope walk into the room.

"We brought food." Tobin says and holds up a plate of food.

"Thanks." I say then I take the food.

"Everything okay?" Alyssa asks as I start eating.

"The twins are sick." I say. "Freya says their fine, but..."

"But they're your kids and you're worried sick." Hope says.

"Yeah." I say then I take a deep breath. "Yeah I am."
