Emma's POV

"Alright." Freya says as she removes the IV from my arm as I look at the line up for today's Semi-Final game.

"If you need more before the game lemme know." Freya says. "And we'll push more fluids at halftime."

The twins got some kind of bug the day after the Canada v Germany game and they passed it to me yesterday.

Hazel and Kingsley are fine now, but I'm fucked.

Thankfully the team has stepped up and taken care of the twins while I was insanely sick.

Jessie and I's schedule's haven't line up so we haven't had time to pass off the kids.

Stubbornly, I didn't want to rely on my Mom, Serena, or Jessie's Parents so I refused to pass the kids off to them.

Yes I know I'm a dumbass.

"I will" I say.

"Let me take your temp." Freya says then she does.

"What is it?" I ask.

"101.2." Freya says.

"Cool." I mumble then I roll over and throw up in a trash can for the umpteenth time.

"I got it." Freya says after I finish being sick. "Go get dressed."

"Let's go Shadow." I say then my service dog and I leave the medical part of the locker room and head to my locker.

When I get to my locker I take my AirPods out, take out my nose ring, take off my necklaces and my rings, then I put my jewelry and AirPods in my bag.

After I'm jewelry free I head to the bathroom and brush my teeth then I return to my locker and put on my pink sports bra and my black compression shorts.

Once I'm only in a sports bra and compression shorts I put on my short sleeve lime green undershirt, my warm up top, then I put on my game shorts. I then sit down in my locker, put my long long curly brown hair up in a ponytail, put on my socks and put on my black and gold boots.

After my boots are on I tape my wrists, hands, and fingers then I put on my black and white keeper gloves before I head onto the field with the other keepers.

When I get on the pitch I run through my warm ups with the keepers for a while then head back to the locker room.

Once in the locker room I change out of the training top and change into my lime green keeper jersey while the coaches do their last minute talks.

"You alright?" Ash asks.

"I feel like death." I mumble. "But I'm playing so I'm fine."

Ash sigh's and nods then she walks over to her wife.

After the last minute talks are over we are told to head to the tunnel so I grab my towel and water bottle then I head to the front of the line in the tunnel.

As we're waiting for to be lead out onto the field, I shut my eyes and whisper my second favorite poem to myself.

Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
