The Lady and the Genius.

The bogeyman has caught the little mouse.

I threw a punch towards him only for it to be caught.
"Come now. You know we could never beat one another in fights Riv."
"What do you want?"
"For you to come home."

(Spencer p.o.v)

"Where's River?"
"I haven't seen her in a bit." Jj told
"Morgan?"
"I lost her in the crowd here. She was heading towards you Reid."
"Last I saw her she was heading towards Rossi." Prentiss told.
"She was heading towards Hotch when I saw her." Rossi told.
"I hadn't seen her since she got off the stage." He told
"I think she might have left out the front. Hard to tell if it was her or someone who looked like her." Dr. Richard told.
'No!'
I pushed through the crowd and rushed outside to not see her anywhere. I saw a piece of paper on the ground and I rushed to it. I picked it up and quickly read the words that was written on there.
'The bogeyman has caught the little mouse.'
"RIVER!!!!" I shouted into the streets to hopefully get something to help me find her.
The rest of the team ran out of the building and I turned to look at them.
"Spencer.....?"
"We're too late."

"Garcia!" I shouted when we got back to the station.
"What's wrong?!" She asked as she quickly rushed out of Richards office with him.
"Where lil ripper?!" He asked once he saw all of us.
"We need you to track her phone!" I told
"Oh god! He got her?!" Penelope said as she brought her hand up.
"Please. You need to find her. It's my fault." I told as I could feel the tears in my eyes.
"I'll try." She told as tears began to form in her eyes.

Penelope walked in to the conference room and gave a light shake of her head before more tears began to run down her face. I slid down the wall and began to cry as Derek came over and pulled me into a hug.
"I should have known. That call she made and the things she said.... I should have known." Penelope told
"She called you?" I asked as I looked up.
"Yeah. I think you guys should hear it now. It's not what she wanted but I feel like we all need it."
We followed her back to Richards office and I could see he has also been crying.
"She called me before Penelope. I missed it. She left a message for me, Daisy and the kids." He told
"It's probably best for everyone to sit down for this." Penelope told
We all sat down and Penelope pressed a key before there was silence and then a voice.

"Uh hey Spence.... I had this whole speech planned out, but now that I'm on the phone doing it... it's slipped my mind. Out of all the approximately 1,013,913 words that there is in the English language, I can't string together the words to tell you. I guess I'll tell you what I can. The reason. I had a gut feeling that things might go wrong... so I called Penelope and she is going to give this to you guys in case my gut was correct. Spencer I love you so so much.... and if things go wrong and you guys can't track us down right away then I want you to promise to me, that you won't start taking Dilaudid again, to try and stop the pain your feeling from me being gone. Your the one thought that's stopping me from losing hope and the thought of you falling back into that drug is scaring me. You think me being a hostage again to my own brother would scare me.... but it doesn't. The thought of losing you forever from that drug is the worst thing ever and is what scares me. So please don't. Don't take it. Because when we reunite I want you to be at the top of your game. Ok babe. Do that for me. Stay at the top of your game. The team is there for you so please don't feel like you are in this alone. J, your the best sister anyone could have asked for and wanted and I'm sorry for all the times I've bugged you about getting a dog. I just always took it as a sign, that you'll have seen I have grown from the teenage girl in the academy to someone who you would be proud of. Guess it was a stupid sign since you've always told me you've been proud to know me and call me family. Tell my little man that I love him so so much and that I'm sorry I couldn't have been there more for him like I hoped. Derek, you keep them safe for me. Keep my family safe for me while I'm gone. Be there for Spencer, my two not gay dads, for Em who is basically the best mother figure I could ask for, and my two sisters. I know it's a lot of work, but I know you'll be able to do it, for me. Em, you are gonna be the best mum, I sometimes wish you were my mother, because then....because then I would be able to see how proud I make you. In the short time that we've known one another I wish it was longer. David..... I still don't know what you call me. And I like that. I like the.....the mystery to the name. That it's the one thing I don't know. I know I'm not your daughter but I can see.... that you've claimed me as such. Your my papa Rossi. I couldn't ask for anyone better then you, my Italian dad. Aaron, don't put yourself into work. I want you to go to Jack and give him as much love as you can. And don't ever.... ever do what my dad did. Because you are great at being a father and I always from the moment you walked into my shop I knew, you would treat me like your kid, give him my love and then triple it with yours. Penelope, I love you. You are my rainbow. My little computer girl. I wish you found my store sooner, cause then I would have more memories with you and Em and J. Please don't let Derek do all the protecting by himself. I just told him that cause you know how our chocolate thunder can get and how strong he thinks he is all the time. I'm sorry for all this..... Spencer I am so glad you got off at the wrong bus stop when you did and you found my store, and.... were such a dumbass and knocked all those books over, because ever since I met you I have loved you. You are one of the best people I've ever got to know. And I'm so sorry I walked out of the bar when I did. Because I know you are blaming yourself for it. And I don't want that. It's not your fault I walked out of there. It's my own. Please don't blame yourself for me being taken. I love you all so so much. Please never forget that. Tell my boy band that I miss them and love them so much. And for them to rock and roll and kick some music ass. J, I need you to tell Zack I'm sorry that I couldn't keep the promise like I had hoped. Also someone needs to tell my cousins about what happened and I may give Sniper shit but he is still family and I love and care for the dumbass. I'm just...... I'm sorry for everything. I love you all so much."
"River.... are you ok?"
"I gotta go now. Thank you Penelope."

After she said that it stopped and I knew we all were trying to hold back tears.
"Penelope why didn't you tell us this?" I asked as I looked up at her.
"I didn't realise she was taken when she made the call. I thought she was safe with you guys. I asked if she was ok because of what she was saying and she hung up. I'm so sorry I didn't know sooner."
"Baby it's not your fault. We all thought she was safe but he still was able to get to her."
"How could he though? We planned it countless times. She was to stay with Reid." J told
"Except she wouldn't since Dr.Richard was with me."
"Wait Kate Richard was with you?" Richard asked
"Yeah."
"DIC I SWEAR TO THE LORD I WILL KICK YOUR ASS IF RIVER IS HURT!"
"Oh the wife is here." He said
"Dads dead." Lucy and Kenny told as one.
"I guess we see where River picked the anger up from." Rossi joked making a few of the members chuckle.
Daisy came rushing into the office and whacked Richard on the arm a few times.
"How could you let her be taken?!"
"Babe you gotta listen to me. No one knew she walked out of the bar. She was meant to go to Spencer but didn't since Kate was with him."
"Wait Kate Richard?"
"Yeah. You know, the dr that works at the moon mental institution like you."
"The same Kate that was dating Nik before his murder spree and hates River with all her heart because Nik always picked River over her. That Kate?"
"Oh I forgot about that part."
"Thats why she told me she didn't trust her. I just thought she was jealous of the time I was spending with her while we were on the case." I told as I felt more tears run down my face.
"Where the hell is she I'm going to kick her ass." Daisy told
"Babe you can't. She isn't here."
"Penelope could you see who she called or received a call from around the time she was taken?" Hotch asked
"On it sir." She told as she quickly began to type.
After a few moments she stopped.
"Ok so the last call she made was to me. Before that was Richard here which went to voice mail. But the mental institution called her  before that."
"Why would they call her?" J asked
"They wanted to question her to see if she wasn't becoming depressed and suicidal again. It's something she promised to do but stopped once she was 14." Daisy told
"Penelope call them." Rossi told.
"Ok."
Penelope quickly called them and put them on speaker for us to all speak.

"Hello. This is the Moon Mental Institution, my name is Mary and how may I help? Please note visitation is not due till tomorrow morning starting and 10am."
"Hi this is SSA Aaron Hotchner."
"Oh this must be serious if your calling. How can I help?"
"We need to know why River Finley was called tonight." He told
"Well I didn't make the call myself but I think Lacy did. Hold up just one second I'll get her attention."

The silence on the phone that followed made time feel slow. I was struggling as I kept the tears from falling till we heard another voice on the line.

"Sorry for the wait agents. I am Lacy, I was the one that called River Finley. What seems to be the problem?"
"We need to know what your call to River was earlier tonight."
"Oh yeah of course. I called her because she asked Dr. Clark for information on who let her brother out."
"Can you tell us who?"
"Does River know you are asking this? I'm sorry to ask but she tends to keep this side of her life a very large secret."
"Lacy it's me Daisy."
"Oh hello Daisy. Is everything ok?"
"We need you to tell them what you told River."
"I would love to but Dr.Clark only allowed for River to know."
"Yeah well River has been kidnapped by her brother so we really need to know." I told
"Oh my...... I'll get Dr.Clark!"

There was more silence on the other end till a voice spoke.

"Sorry I'm Dr.Clark. River has been kidnapped?!"
"We need to know what was said to her before she was taken."
"Of course. It was information on who released her brother. The Dr was Kate Richard. She said he was fit and no longer clinically ill."
"You allowed her to help us with this case?" Richard told
"I didn't. Kate went on a holiday shortly after and I haven't heard from her since."
