The Lady and the Genius.

When Duty calls you must do it.

I was sitting in my desk chair as I talked with Spencer and Penelope about things, since the shop was closed for the day and they were all going to do their own Christmas things in a day or so. When David, Aaron, Emily and Derek came and joined around us.
"River what are you doing for Christmas?" Penelope asked.
"Oh my boys from the band are coming into town and we are going to be watching cheesy Christmas movies. Like the good old days. What about you guys?"
"I'm going to see my mum and sisters." Derek told
"I'm going to be in a nice warm room, working on another story." David told
"I'll be spending time with Jack."
"I'm going home to see my mum and catch up before I decide enough is enough of us bonding." Emily told making me chuckle.
"What about you Spencer? Gonna visit your mum?"
"I will. Good guess."
"Figured you would."
"And I will be animal sitting." Penelope told
"Oooo how fun." I told before my phone began to ring and I saw it was Grace.
'Oh no.'
I picked it up and placed it to my ear getting ready for it.

"Hey."
"When are you coming to Washington?"
"I told you I can't go to Washington. The doctor haven't given me the all clear."
"I thought you said that to get out of it. So what are you doing for Christmas?"
"Staying in Virginia."
"I'm coming down."
"No! Do not come down!"
"I'm coming down. You need to do some work and we always do it when you come down to Washington."
"Fine! When are you coming?"
"If I leave now I should arrive late tonight and we can do it early tomorrow so I'm out of your hair."
"Kay. You still got my address?"
"Of course. Still don't understand why you just won't buy a house."
"Because I brought the house the boys live in when I still lived in Washington. Look I gotta go if I'm gonna get this all ready."
"Until I see you miss.Finley."
"See you Grace." I told before hanging up.

"Who's Grace Baby?"
"Someone I've known since I was 14. I gotta go and deal with this. See you guys when I see you all." I told as I got up to leave.
"Cane!" Spencer exclaimed making me turn back to grab it.
"Thank you for reminding me."
'Boy I am not looking forwards to her showing up.'

"I know you hate doing this but it's needed." Grace told as she sipped the coffee I made her as I went over the paperwork she gave me.
"I get that it's needed. But I don't like doing these."
"I understand that. You grew up not needing much other then your knowledge, it's why me and Dave joined. But you do need to have an active influence with the company. That also includes functions and meeting people."
"Meeting people that are rich and only care about how much money you have and how much you've donated. Not my crowd."
"You and your cousin hate for rich people I will never understand."
"Because they think they can do whatever they want just cause they have more money then most!"
"Yes, you've made that very clear to us both. Just please think about coming to the next one you are invited. I'm sure your friend would like to see you, especially since of the contribution you make to his work place."
"I will think about it." I told before finishing off and handing it back to her. "Now, you can stay here for as long as you like, if anyone comes around do not tell them how we know one another. I have to work a few hours at my shop."
"Of course miss.Finley. I do wish you a merry Christmas, even when you choose to spend it alone this year. Especially since what the holiday reminds you so much of." She told before having more coffee. "You are still excellent at making coffee I must say."
"Thank you. I must go now though." I told before leaving.
'I hate today. Guess it can't get worse.'

(Spencer p.o.v)

We were all waiting to be let go so we could all go and begin our holiday when Jj came walking over to us as she looked at her phone.
"Hey guys, have you seen River? She isn't answering her phone."
"She had a meeting of sorts with someone she calls Grace this morning. Maybe it's still going." I suggested.
"No, she says she doesn't make her meetings with Grace go for long." She told as she placed her phone to her ear again.
"You've met her baby?"
"Briefly. She works with a guy called Dave but I have no idea how they know River." She told before letting out a sigh. "This is not great."
"What's wrong?" Hotch asked
"I was going to invite her over for Christmas."
"She's spending time with her boy band over the holidays." Emily told
"Uh guys!" Penelope said as she rushed over to us.
"Everything ok Penelope?" I asked
"So I was talking to Joe. And I told him I wished I had known they were coming into town for Christmas for us to hang out and swap gifts and what not."
"What's wrong with that baby girl?"
He just told me none of them are coming in from Washington for Christmas. Says they are holding the tradition of going to Michigan with another friend of theirs. River told them it was fine to do so."
"Why would she lie and say they were?" Rossi asked
"Because Christmas always reminds her of her family. She doesn't spend it with her cousins and goes to Washington to meet up with the band and spend Christmas with someone related to one of the boys in Michigan."
"Rossi....." Hotch began only to be cut off by him.
"I know. Seems we all will be going over to Rivers for a nice Christmas meal."

Penelope knocked on her door to her place and she soon opened it as she held a confused look.
"Guys? Why are you still here? Your flights and all your plans."
"Did you seriously not think we weren't going to work out you'll be spending Christmas alone baby?"
"I'm not though." She told
"River. We know the boys aren't coming." Jj told
"I'm still not alone."
"River....." I began only to get cut off.
"River dear who is that?!" A lady's voice from inside her place asked
"Just some work friends! I'll be back in just a second."
"Oh I want to meet them." She told
"No no, it's fine. Really you don't....." she began only to get cut off by the door opening more.
"Oh it's good to meet all of Rivers friends!" The lady told.
"Guys meet Daisy. Daisy this is my team, Aaron, David, Derek, Emily, Penelope, Spencer and J."
"It's so nice to have faces to the names."
"Why don't you go back and help uncle Dic before he burns anything Daisy."
"I'm not that bad of a cook!" A voice from her apartment yelled.
"Yes you are Dic!" River yelled before  "Daisy can you?"
"Of course dear. It was good to finally meet you all." She told before leaving. "DIC THAT IS CLEARLY A BIG ASS FLAME!"
"IM ADDING TEXTURE!"
"BY WHAT?!?! BURNING IT?!"
River moved out of her apartment and closed the door so we were all given some sort of privacy.
"So that's Daisy." She told looking down.
"Why didn't you tell us you were spending Christmas  with her kitten?"
"Because I didn't know. She showed up when I got back from the shop. I actually was just gonna spend the holiday alone."
"She showed up without telling you?" I asked and she gave a nod.
"Yep. She figured out that if I don't know she is coming then I can't lie and say I already made plans since my last bunch got canceled. It was nice for you all to come force me to be social but I would feel really bad if you guys are late to anything. So be living life." She told
They all gave her a hug and left down the stairs, leaving us alone. I looked down towards her and she gave a small smile.
"You should go before you miss your flight."
"I wish I had known about this Christmas situation and I would have brought you with me to Vegas."
"I didn't want you to you to worry about me more then you already do and have."
"Come on." I told as I pulled her into a hug.
She hugged back and I instantly felt her her relax in my arms.
"I love you Spence."
"I love you as well River."
I pulled away a bit and leaned down to kiss her. While we were kissing the door opened again and we looked to see Daisy again.
"River! You didn't tell me you were dating someone!"
"Surprise." She told as I gave a small smile and wave.
"I'm Spencer Reid."
"He doesn't shake hands." She told
"Wait! Did I hear lil Ripper is dating someone?!"
"Lil Ripper?" I asked as I looked back at River.
"I suggest running now." She told as she began to push me away.
"No way! I wanna know who your dating! Stupid furniture! Why did you get so many things?!" Dic exclaimed as I could hear his feet rushing towards us.
"I'll call when I'm at the airport." I told before giving her another quick kiss. "I love you."
"I love you as well Spencer."
I quickly rushed upstairs just as I could hear he got to the door.
"You never let me meet your boyfriends!"
"Why would I start now?!"
