The Lady and the Genius.

Another new case.

It's been a few days since we solved the last case and River was finally able to open her shop again once the glass was fixed. With some convincing she was able to be able to stay at her own apartment which had me worry whenever she didn't text for long periods of time. No one still knew that the bookshop owner was the famous dr that they wanted to meet which just brought our own amusement. I was called into work again for a new unsub and Jj walked over once she saw I was in the break room.
"Hey Spence."
"Hey. What's with the paper?" I asked before sipping my coffee knowing it wasn't the same as Rivers.
"Well I know we are on a new case but my birthday is tonight and I want to enjoy it before we can't. So you are invited." She told as she handed me one.
"Just our team?" I asked
"And my friend from the academy. We haven't seen each other in so long I decided to bring her along so she can meet the crew."
"Sounds fun. I should be able to make it."
"Ooo. Bring your dr friend."
"She is busy conducting interviews for someone to help since her store gets really busy in this season. So no she can not come." I told
"Maybe next time then." She said before walking off.
'Dodged a bullet.'
I headed into the bullpen to see Hotch and Rossi were getting ready to fill us in on the new unsub.
"So we have been told there was a skeleton in the old abandoned house every child freaks out." Rossi told.
"We however don't know much about skeletons other then our boy genius." Hotch informed.
"We can't get to it though since none of us are small enough to get to the skeleton."
Jj hand shot up and we were all confused.
"Sorry but I have a friend from the academy that should be the right size to fit and examine the skeleton."
"When can she do it?"
"Tomorrow. She knows all sorts of things to do with gun shot and has an accuracy to know how one died just by looking at them. She actually will be joining us for a few drinks tonight so everyone can meet her before working with her." She told.
"She work in the force?"
"No even though she was good at it she decided to follow a different path. But she is very qualified for the job."
"Tell her she is hired for the case. Everyone work out what you can wether they just got stuck and died or if they were murdered." Hotch told before we all separated.
I felt my phone vibrate and saw it was River once I grabbed my phone.

"Dude these people that I'm interviewing are obviously just in it for the money."
"Well that will happen."
"But it shouldn't for me. I strictly said I want someone who loves books. They just want money."
"How old are they?"
"The legal age for them to work duh."
"Not the point I was asking. Are they in their teens?"
"Yeah."
"Most likely a first job for them."
"Yeah I've told them no cause I know they aren't fully interested in books. Which sucks cause books are good."
"They are. Also I won't be able to hang out tonight since one of my coworkers is having a little get together before the new case takes us away and we have no time."
"That's all good I was meeting up with my dorm mate from school tonight anyway."
"Then we are both in the clear. Well I'll let you get back to the interviews."
"No please don't! Why did you convince me to do this?"
"Because you need help during this season."
"Stupid that's what it is."
"Goodbye for now Dr."
"Goodbye for now Dr.Reid."

I put my phone away and couldn't get rid of the smile on my face. I went back to work and was a bit upset not being able to see River tonight.
'Maybe I can pop in after work at the bookstore to see how she is going.'
"Pretty boy missing his girlfriend?"
"Shut up Morgan, and she isn't my girlfriend. I am just curious if she will actually hire anyone to help her during this season."
"You know even though I didn't get to meet the bookshop girl Garcia told me about how you liked the coffee she made you and something about fixing her hand?"
"She got glass in it and was bleeding. There is nothing wrong about helping someone."
"Just saying. I think you and the dr would be better together." He told before walking off.
'If only he knew he told me that the same girl he told me was a better choice for a girlfriend over the same girl.'
I went over was we knew and looked at the picture of the hole the kids went into.
'River is actually a good size to fit there. But we have Jj's friend which is better so I can go back to keeping River and the team separated.'

"Turns out once you tell people you know their goals with working at your place is not the best. One kid bolted once I said that throwing party's in a bookshop is not fun."
"I don't know I've been know to go to some bookshop party's."
"A party of one is not a party Spencer. Any idea for the case?"
"Nothing. I'll tell you more later when I see you."
"Will do Dr.Reid."

I began to pack up my things and headed out to see River before going to a party and meeting someone new. To my surprise it didn't take long till I was walking through the doors of the familiar shop I've grown to love over the almost two years of finding it. I could hear her speaking to someone so I decided to wait till she was done so I could talk to her. As I started to make my way to the desk River popped her head out from the back and gave me a smile.
"How you doing?"
"Alright how about you?"
"Thrilled. Can you just wait one moment?"
"Of course."
She smiled back and I went to where she put the books she didn't want me to read when I heard more footsteps and talking.
"Now the shop isn't opened tomorrow but should be for the next day depending how things go."
"No problem." The new girl said before leaving and I could tell she was excited about something.
"You finally hired someone?"
"I did. Her name is Jade and loves books. So what are you doing here Dr.Reid?"
"Came to see you before getting into something comfortable for a pub." I told.
"Just not the mismatch socks."
"Of course not."
"So tell me about the case so far."
"Skeleton was found in the old abandoned house."
"Creepy. Too bad it ain't Halloween."
"But then we couldn't go to the haunted houses since I would have work."
"True. I'm a bit nervous about tonight. Can you tell me a fact?" She asked.
"Of course. Did you know that the New York Marriott was the first to introduce a smart elevator system that assigned passengers to elevators depending on what floor they were heading to." I told making her smile.
"Still afraid of elevators?"
"Yes. Did you know there are 6 elevator related deaths a year, not to mention the 10000 other injuries that require hospitalisation...." I was cute off by her putting a hand over my mouth.
"I know that one already Spencer. You told me it the first time we got into an elevator and it got stuck for the hour and you mentioned it brought up how you felt when you were put into the lockers when you were in high school which is very understandable. I was once pushed into a locker and was there till 10pm until the janitor found me and got me out." She told before realising her hand was still over my mouth. "Sorry."
"That was the first time you have put a stop to my ramblings."
"Yeah it is."
"We should go. We both have party's to get to."
"That we do."
She grabbed her things and I drove her back to our places so we can both get ready.
