They finished their case late in the afternoon and arrived back home late into the night. Around 1 am there was a soft knock at my door that I nearly missed and I got out of bed to go see who it was. I quickly looked out of the peep hole and opened the door to see Spencer. Before I could get a word out he leaned down and wrapped his arms around me.
"I missed you so much baby." He told as he rested his head in the nook of my neck.
"I missed you as well. Why don't we go and cuddle on the couch or in bed?" I asked only for him to nod and not let go. "Spencer you need to let go so I can close the door."
He let go of me and made his way into my apartment so I could close the door. Once the door was shut and locked his arms snaked around me again and I let out a sigh.
"Come on Spencer. Let's get you to bed." I told as I began to walk with him to the bed room.
The experience was weird to say the least. But once we got to the room I made sure Spencer got into some pjs as I climbed back into bed to go back to sleep. As I was drifting back to sleep I felt the bed dip and a pair of arms wrap around me.
"Was it a good case or a bad one?" I quietly asked
"It was a good one. We were able to stop her before she killed the girl."
"That's good." I told as I felt him pull me closer to him and rested his face in the crook of my neck again.
He hummed in content as I slowly drew circles on his shoulder.
"The team was surprised when you shouted at Josh."
"Everyone is when they first meet him and how we act."
"Derek wouldn't stop trying to find out more about you and our relationship."
"Not surprised. How were they when I went all science like?"
"Jaw dropped."
"Amazing. Imagine what they'll look like when they finally learn."
"That will be funny."
"We should get some sleep. I have work tomorrow." I told
"Sorry for waking you."
"Don't be."
He removed his head from its spot and leaned up to give me a kiss on the lips before returning to his position before.
"Good night Spencer."
"Good night River. I love you."
"I love you two." I told before falling back to sleep.

I was reading one of my books at the counter with my legs on it, in my shop when the bell rang. I looked up to see Penelope walking in with a smile on her face.
"Hey hun." I told as I looked back down at my book.
"Why have you not been coming in for the past few days?" She asked as she made her way over to me.
"Jade hasn't been feeling well so I haven't been able to take a break at all."
"There is no one in the shop at all River."
"That's because school is in session. Don't worry give it like 4 minutes and my hipster crew will come walking in." I told with a slight smile.
"Is it always like this?"
"Some times. This month is a slow month usually. Coffee?" I asked as I finally put my bookmark in and placed the book off to the side.
"I have one already." She told as she showed me her travel cup and I instantly recognised it. "You stopped by the Johnsons cafe didn't you?"
"How did you know?"
"They make good coffees and I go there since it's close to where I live."
"So what's it like with Spencer as a neighbour?"
"Interesting. We hang out every now and then and if he ever starts to get too loud I get my broom and tap my roof." I joked making her laugh.
Before she could say anything a group of people walked in.
"RIVER!" They all cheered at once.
"My hipsters!" I exclaimed as I jumped off my chair and grabbed my broom. "Penelope you can sit on my chair."
She gave a confused look but decided to do it and they all went and pushed the tables of books I had.
"Ok so who's first?" I asked.
"I'll go. Go easy on me now." West told.
"Oh alright. Now what do I say?"
"Protect the face." He told as he got onto the mars people put down.
"Good. What else?"
"Never let your guard down." He told once he was given a staff.
"Hope you been practicing kid."
I spun my broom around and began to strike attacks which he kept blocking. After a few minutes, I saw three opening and went for one which he instantly blocked. I quickly ducked and swiped for his legs, which he jumped to avoid and I instantly got my broom and hit him in the side knocking him to the ground. I hit the staff away from his grasp and placed my foot on his chest to stop him from moving.
"I win kid." I told before taking my foot off of him.
"You got me with the leg swipe." He told as I helped him up.
"You gotta keep focus. Attackers think one step ahead, which means.....?"
"Think three steps ahead." They all told.
"Good."
"So who's the bright lady, River?" Kat asked
"That's my good friend and colleague from the BAU Penelope. She didn't know this would be happening." I told
"What was that?!" She exclaimed as she rushed over to us.
"River helps us with self defence."
"I just teach things here and there. They all learn different things that they want to. West is into staff fighting, Kat is into fist fighting, like boxing and what not, and Q is very interested in kickboxing." I explained.
"She starts by teaching us stances and slowly works her way up to what you saw just before." West explained.
"Q your up." I told as I handed my staff over to West and went to the counter to get my gear.
Penelope went and sat next to Kat as I took my shoes off and put the wraps on my feet as Q did the same. We went on the mat once we got the wraps done on our hands.
"You ready Q?" I asked
They gave a nod and I gave them a look before tapping my ear.
"Why did she tap her ear?" Penelope asked
"Q is deaf, so they wear hearing aids. River doesn't want to accidentally ruin them so she has them take them out. Also says it's good to learn how to fight by feeling the vibrations." Kat explained as Q took the hearing aids out and gave them to West.
Once they were back on the map and I asked with sign language if they were ready, they replied back that they were. We began to fight and after a few minutes I went for an opening which Q quickly stopped and went to flip me. I quickly caught their foot and kicked them to the ground as I quickly took over control in the fight. I felt two taps on my hand which made me instantly stop.
"Did I hurt you too much?" I signed.
They smiled back and shook their head no.
"There's no way to get control back once you've refocused." They signed making me smile.
I helped them up and whistled to signal it was Kats turn. She took her shoes off and placed her gloves on as I placed mine on as well. Once we got onto the mat she didn't waste any time to try and take control before I could. I kept blocking her attacks till they became less frequent. Once they were I quickly took my right hand and punched her in the gut making her lean down a little. I was quick to rush her and I placed my left hand on her shoulder as I jumped and spun around as I wrapped my leg around her and leaned back bringing her to the ground with me. I pinned her arms down with my legs and gave her a smirk which she returned.
"What have I told you about striking first?"
"Not to do that." She told as she gave a breathless laugh.
"And what did you do?"
"The exact opposite."
"Come on let's get you up." I told as I unpinned her and stood having her follow.
"Where have you learnt to do all this River?" Penelope asked.
"My father thought it was needed for me and Nik to learn different fighting styles when we were young. Then I grew up with another cop after he died so I would train with him as a way to get my anger out. Also did gymnastics for a bit when I was 13 but I never competed since I didn't start it for that reason."
"What else did you do?"
"Knife throwing. My mother wanted me to learn so I could do it with her for fun. I haven't really tried it in so long though so I don't think I'll be good at it."
"Ok what can't you do?"
"Oh dance. I can not dance at all. Also can not stand spiders at all. It is not natural to have eight legs and eyes. That's messed up."
"So that's why you freaked out when you touched the web by accident."
"Do not remind me of that I hate it. I also can't do Capoeira, also known as dance fighting."
"I thought you would be able to do all types of fighting."
"Nope. I also can't use fans or sais or a katana. Mainly because I couldn't hold a katana when my father was teaching us so I just never picked it up."
"Wow. I'm learning so much about you today it's unreal."
Q signed something towards Penelope which confused her.
"I'm sorry I don't know how to sign." She told with a sad expression.
"What Q was saying was, 'since your here you should go against River.'"
"Oh I've never fought her before."
"I'll go easy. Just teach you the basics." I told smirking as I put my shoes back on.
"You promise?"
"Cross my heart and hope to die."
She took off her coat and bag before standing on the mat with me. We went through some moves before my phone went off. I walked over to my desk and picked it up.

"Hello this Dr.River Finley. How may I be of help?"
"Oh you've finally picked up. It's been what 10 years?"
"14."
"Well now that you are on the phone let's go over...."
"Nope sorry can't talk, I'm being stabbed to death."
"River....."
"Ok you caught me. I'm not. Bye!"

I ended the call and gave a sigh.
'Should've checked.'
"Everything ok River?" Penelope asked
"Yeah just the people wanting to see if I'll show up to the school reunion of mine." I lied.
"And?!"
"Oh I'm not going. Also you three better head to your afternoon lessons. I don't need another phone call about you three helping me with work."
"Yeah yeah you still love us." Kat told
"Be safe you three!" I told before they left.
"Do you need help cleaning this up?" Penelope asked as she walked towards me.
"Na I'll be fine. Good workout." I told with a smile.
She checked the time and got a surprise look on her face.
"Oh I should head back to work since my break is going to be over soon. It was great seeing you River. You should definitely come to girls night with us tonight." She told as she rushed around and collected her things.
"I will be there just send me the details." I told before she rushed out.
I let out a sigh and my phone began to ring again.
"Gotta love being me."
