The Lady and the Genius.

The Halloween plan.

(I should also mention. Spencer has just turned 28. So there's that. On with the chapter.)

Halloween. The time in the year where people can pretend they are something their not. And the holiday me and Spencer enjoy the most together. We spruced our desks up with Halloween decorations making us look like the crazy two in our office.
"The pretty duo worked quick." Derek told as he walked over with Penelope and Emily.
"You work quick with the holiday you love." I told before me and Spencer high-fived.
"The fact Jj introduced you two is even scarier." Emily told making us laugh.
'Oh if that were only true.'
"Well anyway. My goal is to get a scare out of everyone of you before Halloween is over." I told
"You can try baby."
"I know."
Derek sat down on my chair making the air horn I prepared earlier to go off making him jump.
"Morgan is already out." I told with a smile.
"I demand a second try."
"Nope. Too late I already ticked you off."
We went back to doing paperwork when we heard a yell and someone came rushing to us.
"Ok who made a fake spider fall onto my head when I walked into my office?" Penelope asked
"I didn't want to scare you too much so I thought one fake spider would do the trick." I told
"I forgive you. Just not again."
"You got it Penelope." I told as she walked away.
"So are you going to try Hotch and Rossi?" Emily asked
"Probably not. I feel like Hotch won't get scared and same goes for Rossi."
We soon heard a yell come from Rossi's office making my eyes go slightly wide.
"I forgot I did that."
"You have an eidetic memory." Spencer stated
"And I forgot that I also tapped an air horn to his chair."
The door to his office opened making us all look to see he looked annoyed as he held the air horn.
"Who did this?" He asked
"I take full responsibility. I forgot I was testing the best ways to stick an air horn under a chair so when someone sits it sets it off. I'm really sorry Rossi, I thought I got all of them."
"It's fine il mio piccolo genio. Just next time use Hotchs."
"Will do." I told as he walked back into his office.
"I guess we learnt who's the favourite here." Emily told making us laugh.

After awhile I got up from my seat to see J was in her office typing some things away on her laptop. I quietly made my way to it before jumping in and yelling surprise. She let out a scream before looking towards me as I smiled.
"I hate whenever you decided to scare people on Halloween."
"Makes me bring joy to the holiday where monsters can hide among us."
"Monsters don't exist and you know it."
"Of course."
'What they don't know, doesn't hurt them.'
"So who else do you need to get?" She asked with a smile
"Emily and Spencer."
"Not Hotch?"
"I don't want to get in trouble."
"But you scared Rossi?"
"That was an accident. Forgot an air horn."
"Well. I could go for some lunch, wanna join?"
"Sure. I'm ahead on paperwork."
"How?" She asked as she got up from her spot.
"I do paperwork at the store when I've finished organising and what not."
"That makes sense for some reason." She told as we walked out.
"Where are you two going?" Emily asked
"Lunch." I told
"You can join if you like." Jj told
"I'm in." Emily told as she quickly got up.
"Me two. I'm coming." Penelope told as she followed after.
"Girl lunch!" I exclaimed making them laugh.

(Spencer p.o.v)

I was talking with Morgan as we made our coffee when we heard laughing. We turned our heads to see River laughing as Prentiss looked annoyed.
"What happened?" Morgan asked as we headed over to them.
"She scared me."
"I went into a tree and made her think I fell."
"I thought you got hurt."
"Don't worry. I'm always safe when climbing trees. I have had a lot of tree climbing contests with my cousins. I really wish I wasn't the only female sometimes." She told making me smirk.
"What about Lucy?" I questioned.
"Again, not biological. And I don't know her a lot. She's Snipers age so I hardly saw her and Ken is about Niks age so I also didn't get to know him a lot."
"Will we ever meet your family?" J asked
"You've never met them?" Penelope asked
"Never. Like I've said. I only know them by nicknames."
"God I hope not. Not that I don't want you guys meeting. It's more because I'm the only girl they are all really protective over me. I don't need that."
'Also due to the fact we are dating so I'll be threatened.'
"Will they also threaten your boyfriend?" Emily asked
"1000%. They all will make a threat, along with Uncle Marine." I told
"You have an uncle who's name is Marine?" Morgan asked
"Oh no. That's the nickname I gave him. He used to be a marine."
"You have an odd family dynamic." Morgan stated making her nod.
"Yeah. I do."

The work day had ended and River had not manage to scare me once.
"Ok how the hell did that happen?" She questioned as the team laughed.
"Seems you couldn't scare pretty boy."
"Seems not. Oh well there is always next year." She told as she shrugged.
We all headed home and River ordered food since neither one of us wanted to cook. After awhile her phone went off and she let out an annoyed sigh.
"Hey Spencer. I gotta get the food that the delivery dude won't deliver himself."
"I can come if you want?"
"Na it's my treat for not getting scared by me."
"Ok." I told before seeing her leave her place.
After a few seconds of her leaving my phone began to ring so I went and picked it up.

"Hello this is Dr. Spencer Reid."
"Oh she must have changed her number again."
"I'm sorry who are you referring to?"
"River Finley."

I pulled the phone away from my ear and saw it was hers and not mine.
'Wrong phone.'

"Sorry no this is her phone. I just picked it up since she went out for a bit."
"So who is this on the phone?"
"I'm her boyfriend....Spencer."
"Oh ok then. Do you think you can tell her we called?"
"Yeah I can do that. Uh who is this anyway?"
"Oh my name is Jane and I work for the Moon mental institution. Well I have some other calls I need to make so I'll get going now. And thank you for telling her we called in advance."
"Yeah no problem."

The line went dead and I put it back on the side table still trying to process what just happened.
'Why is a mental institution trying to call River?'
Before I could get too lost in my thoughts about what possibly could have happened and about the call the door opened and River walked in.
"Turns out the dude was parked across the street."
I looked over at her and she gave a confused look.
"Is everything alright babe?"
"Yeah just thinking and a bit tired from the last case."
"We can postpone the horror movie marathon if your tired."
"No it's fine I still want to do it."
"Ok." She told giving a small smile which I returned
'Why wouldn't she tell me this?'
