Missing the boys.

I was working away in my shop as people kept coming in to find a book someone might like, which helped since I tried to not think about how I was going to miss Christmas in Michigan.
'Stupid being shot in the leg.'
Thankfully we were able to get a break from customers when it hit around noon.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to the Christmas rush." Jade told
"I'm still not fully used to it. While you can Jade, please see how many books are in each create in the back."
"On it boss!" She told as she gave a salute before going to do that.
I was going over sales when my phone began to ring, making me pick it up.
'I really gotta stop not checking it again.'
"Hello, this is Dr.River Finley speaking. How may I be of service today?"
"Hey Rio."
"Mac n cheese?"
"Yeah."
"Why..... why are you calling me? I mean don't get me wrong, it's good to hear from you but last time we saw one another we had that somewhat disagreement, and only saw and talked to one another at Christmas."
"It's actually because of that. Surprisingly."
"It is?"
"Yeah. The other three broke into my place, thankfully no one was over or coming over and they explained the situation. So you actually can't come for Christmas?"
"Yeah. Got shot in the leg, so the doctors with the medical degrees have said I can't travel till next year. Getting good use out of the cane you got me though."
"I did hear about you being a hostage."
"From the boy band?"
"No. Your cousin said it very loudly."
"Oh you work with Sniper! I completely forgot you did that."
"Yes. He still does not know."
"Yeah. Fingers cross he doesn't ever, because he will shot you if he finds out what happened before you were 18."
"Yes that is true. He has threatened me multiple times to shoot me."
"He is so lucky I have to pretend we don't know one another."
"You know, I'm sorry about what happened right?"
"I'm sorry as well. We probably should have not got as far as we did." I told making us chuckle.
"Why did we think naming bones was gonna make our side win?"
"I've got no clue. Especially since we are the smart ones of the group. Maybe it was the nog."
"We need to stop going to bars with those three."
"That won't stop them. They'll do the Titan carry."
"I thought they aren't allowed to do that after April fools day?"
"They call you Zaddy and won't stop. They don't listen. Especially to the oldest one out of us five."
"By three days."
"You know, I'm glad we are talking again."
"I am as well."
"ZACK EXPERIMENT!" A girl exclaimed on his side.
"YEAH! GET OFF THE PHONE WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND!"
"I will be there in a second. And she isn't my girlfriend!" He told making me chuckle.
"I'm still mistaken as your girlfriend?" I questioned.
"It seems that way. I do have to go Rio."
"Maybe we can talk later or some other time." I told before seeing Josh messing with the books. "JOSH IMMA THROW THE BROOM IF YOU DONT STOP!"
"DOUBLE DOG DARE YA!"
"Is everything alright on your side?"
"Yeah just a regular occurrence. I'll talk later Mac n cheese."
"Talk later Rio. And sorry you can't come for Christmas."
"It's all good. Who knew I was gonna get shot. Have fun with the experiment and don't die."
"We try not to. Bye."
"Bye." I told before he hung up.
'It's gonna suck this Christmas.'
"So.... you throwing the broom?" Josh asked
"Should I?"
He didn't answer me and pulled another book off, making me throw the broom. He dodged it and gave me a smile.
"Ha! Ya missed me!"
"You are so lucky I'm not meant to use my leg without my cane!" I told as I pointed it towards him.
"I know how to fix that." He told
"How?" I asked as I leaned on my counter.
"Just don't get shot."
"Get out." I told as I pointed towards the door and chuckled.
"I kid I kid. I'll clean this up and help when I can, till you don't need a cane anymore." He told as he began to pick the books up to put them back where they belonged.
"I only use it cause Spencer doesn't want me to mess up my leg more when I can't feel anything in it."
"You were shot in the dead nerve one?"
"Ye boy!"
"Whack. Also the old man is a worry wart."
"He is a worry wart. But you worry about the people you care about. Sometimes, you need to decide in a situation what to do. Do you let the same thing that happened to you happen to someone you love and care for, or do you stop them from doing it?"
"Stop them. You speaking like your talking from experience River."
"Yeah. Someone I once knew a long time ago stopped me from following my brothers path."
"So, we still have a lot of products. Which should keep us sorted till next shipment arrives next week."
"What fun."
