(Noah's POV)

I stare anywhere but at someone's face. I guess I have a bit of social anxiety; I don't like this at all.

"Hi everyone, I know that we were kind of unexpectedly invited to stay here but just know that we plan on doing our share." Lexi starts. "I'm Lexi Ashwell, I'm nineteen, and this is my brother.." she trails off waiting for me to finish. I clear my throat. I just pick a face to talk to. I end up looking at the face of the boy who was glaring at me earlier. "I-I'm Noah Ashwell, I'm fifteen.. a-almost sixteen." I say. I can feel my face turning red as all eyes are on me. I look down at my feet.

"Dude. Save your nervousness for when zombies attack. Stop being a baby right now. We don't bite." I look up to see that boy again. He was laughing with a few of his friends at me. I look around the camp fire to see everyone snickering.

I've never felt so embarrassed in my life.

"W-what's your name?" I stammer out. Why would I ask that right now?!

He looks at me blankly but then says "Jasper Caddel." I nod. Am I supposed to say something else? No, he'd make fun of me if I did.

"Well it's nice to meet the two of you." An older man says to us.

"Thank you." Lexi nods gratefully. "We have an extra tent that you can stay in together. It should be big enough." Harold says while yawning. "We should all head to bed, actually. Delores, you're first watch right?" Delores nods. "Alright, let's put out the fire and head to sleep." Everyone agrees.

As I help clean up, I notice Jasper looking at me in a 'making fun of me' way again. Fuck, even the kids my age don't like me here.

Lexi and I head into our tent that someone had previously set up for us. I wasn't sure how I was going to sleep tonight knowing that everyone saw me as some weak and scrawny kid.

Time-skip to midnight~

I'm sleeping soundly until I wake up with the need to pee. Great. I'd rather not leave this tent at night but I really have to go.

I stand up from my sleeping bag and slowly unzip my tent, worried I'll make too much noise.

I rush over to a tree pretty far from the tents and do my business quickly. Before I can head back to my tent, I hear some voices in the distance.

My curiosity gets the best of me and before I know it, I'm walking towards the noise.

The darkness seems to fade as a faint light slowly starts to the fill the area around me. What's going on?

I finally seem to arrive at my destination when I see three people sitting on pieces of debris and laughing. The light was coming from a small lantern they had lit.

"Dude Jasper, try to hit the target again." One of the voices laugh. Jasper? Like the guy from the campfire?

Hit the target? I glance a little bit to the left of them to see several throwing knives in a piece of propped up debris. A target outline had been spray painted over it.

Ah, they are just hanging out. I don't want to intrude. Especially on these guys.

I turn around hoping to head back, but all of a sudden a crunch sound appears. Shit. I look down to see a now broken stick under my shoe.

"What was that?" One of the boys say. Their heads all cock my way and their eyes widen in surprise.

"Isn't that... the 'panic attack' kid? God, he looked like he was gonna shit his pants earlier at the campfire." The blonde sitting to the right of Jasper laughs. I step more into their view, simply because I've already been caught.
