(Cooper's POV)
The creature never takes it eyes off of us while crawling across the ceiling. It's... unrecognizable.
"Cooper... what do we do?" Lexi's voice seems to quiver, obviously on the verge of tears.
The zombie jumps down from the ceiling, directly in front of Lexi and I. We both hold up our weapons in fear. Lexi's hands shake a bit.
The creature lets out another roar, obviously about to pounce. Before it can do so, though, we hear...
BOOM.
The zombie's head immediately cocks towards the exit of the store.
Zombie fact: They just love going after loud noises.
Before we know it, the creature is sprinting out of the store and is completely gone in seconds.
Lexi and I just stare at each other for a second. She has tears rolling down her face as she falls to her knees. That was too close.
I sigh, with a bit of empathy. I hold out a hand and she looks at it, scared. "It's... it's okay now Lexi. It's gone. We need to get back to the junkyard."
The terrified girl in front of me nods shakily before taking my hand and standing up. "Everything's okay."
She wipes her eyes and asks, "Where did that gunshot come from?"
I huff. "Camp."
She blinks in surprise. "How can you be sure?"
I lead her towards the exit, quickly. "That was my shotgun."
"And... we gotta get there before that thing does."
Her eyes widen as we grab our things and load them into the car. I hop in the drivers seat in complete worry.
Lexi doesn't ask anymore questions. She immediately gets in and I speed down the road.
For fucks sake, Jasper.
(Jasper's POV)
Things aren't going great. A few zombies have gotten into the yard since I shot the gun. No one has been bit but they are coming out of nowhere.
"What do we do until my brother gets back?!" I say a bit panicky. "Calm down, Jasp. Your brother had to have heard that shot. He's probably on his way back right now. Now, we have to focus on getting all the necessary supplies packed up before they get here. That way in case we have to leave, we will have everything ready to escape quickly." Delores says in a calming tone. I stand in shock for a second before shaking my head and getting away from my terrible thoughts. "Okay, let's hurry." I say.
The whole camp runs around frantically, grabbing anything they may need. I really hope he hurries with the car. It's the only way to hold everything.
I run around more before I catch a glimpse of a figure standing around doing nothing. Just frozen.
Noah.
I just about scold him for the lack of help but then I see it.
A swayer coming up behind him. And he doesn't even notice.
"Shit." I huff before sprinting up to him.
I yank out my pocket knife and quickly run at him. Just as Noah sees me, I tackle the zombie to the ground, stabbing it in the head. "Fuck." I huff, sitting up.
He lets out a gasp as he looks down at the creature and myself.
I let out exasperated breaths. "A-Are you insane?! You can't just stand there like that. That thing would've killed you! That was so close, don't you get it!?"
