Time skip
(Lexi's POV)

It was currently time to head to my tent to sleep. Cooper's little brother Jasper had told me that they are willing to train us. Not that we had a choice in the matter.

I walk while in my thoughts and suddenly I bump into something and it knocks me to the ground. I look up to see Cooper.

"Ah- sorry I wasn't looking where I was going." Cooper scoffs and holds out a hand. I take it and he helps me up. "Just get some sleep. It would be a shame if you slept in and didn't make it to training tomorrow." He says in an 'I really don't give a shit' tone.

I roll my eyes but I still give him a thank you for helping me.

I walk into my tent and and lie down. I look over to see Noah nowhere in sight. "He's probably just getting ready for bed I say." Now that I think about it, I'm not really tired at all. I look over to a pile of activities that Noah must've left in here. I reach for a book and grab a flashlight at the same time. I flip the flashlight on and read the book cover. 'Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban' I flip it open and decide to read.

(Noah's POV)

I finish helping Delores fold laundry. I liked helping like this. It distracted me from everything else that was going on.

"Thank you darling." Delores said with a sweet smile. "It isn't too late yet, why don't you go play with the other kids?"

I glance over at the kids she was referring to. There was a little red head girl playing with a doll, and two little twin boys running around playing tag. Playing with them wouldn't be fun at all. The only people here that are my age are Jasper, and his psycho friends.

And I know that just screams danger.

I unzip my tent to find Lexi reading the Harry Potter book I had found. "Oh, hey Noah. I sorta get the Harry Potter hype now. Even though I'm starting in the middle of the series."

"Did Cooper tell you that we're training with Jasper and him tomorrow morning?" I ask. "No, but Jasper let me know. That kid is kind of an ass." She laughs.

I nod in extreme agreement. I lay down to sleep as Lexi turns off her flashlight. I sleep well, surprisingly.

Time skip to dawn.

(Lexi's POV)

I was sleeping soundly until I heard the tent next to me rustle. I unzip my tent to see Cooper and Jasper heading to the top of the hill. Right, training.

I turn to Noah and shake his shoulders to wake him up. He wakes up in a jolt. "Jeez Lexi! I thought you were-" he stops himself. "Never mind, I'm fine."

We take turns changing in the tent, then we start up the hill.

Once at the top, we see Cooper sharpening knives and Jasper eating a granola bar. I take note of Cooper's bed head and huff a laugh.

He looks up at me, tiredly. "What?" I stop immediately and get serious. "Um.. it's nothing." I say. "So... what exactly are we learning today?"

Cooper stands up. "Alright, everyday at the crack of dawn we will train you guys." He turns to look at me. "You will be with me. You're older so you can probably handle training with more serious weapons like guns. I'll also show you hand to hand combat." He turns to look at Noah. "The shrimp will go with Jasp, he'll teach him simple things like how to hit a target with a knife and other stuff like that."

He nods at Jasper. Jasper tells Noah to go with him and I stay by Cooper. "How does your brother know how to throw knives and fight? He's like fourteen." I say appalled. "Actually, Jasper is sixteen." He says.

"I've been training him for a while now. Five years maybe? Yeah, that seems about right." He says casually.

"Okay... how do you know how to do all that stuff? You seem pretty young as well." I say in remark. "I'm 21. And before this whole thing happened, I was training to be a police officer." He says plainly while finishing sharpening his knife.

"Oh? I thought you were an assassin or something." I say laughing. He doesn't laugh with me so I immediately stop.

"Let's just get this over with already." He scoffs.
