(Lexi's POV)
I climb down from the tree after what feels like hours. Taking a glance around is a bit nerve racking, but once I see that the coast is clear I walk forward a bit.
So where to now? I should probably head back to the house and find the boys. They're probably worried sick.
What if one of those soldiers got to the house? What if-
A sudden grasp over my mouth startles me. I muffle out some shouts before I'm shoved against a tree. Oh no. One of the soldiers.
They seem to stare at me blankly for a moment before speaking. "Heh. It's one of Denise's kids. You're coming with me, bitch." They growl. I freeze in fear before I'm forced to walk along side the masked person.
(Cooper's POV)
Carlos and I have been strategizing for a while now. "We should check if the coast is clear." He mumbles. I nod and stand up, glancing out the window carefully.
None of them are close enough to see us if we run for it. I'm not sure where we'd go... We could try and go back to the boys or try and find Lexi. Maybe if we-
Before I can think anymore, I hear a scream. A familiar scream.
Lexi.
I get a better look out the window to see Lexi trying to tear away from a soldier. "Get off of me you fucking freak!" She hollers. My eyes widen at the sight. She was caught.
I don't even think before sprinting out of Carlos' office. "Lexi!" I roar. She looks at me, teary eyed. Many soldiers seem to glance my way as well.
I run up to her at great speed. Before we make contact, I'm grabbed by two strong soldiers. "Let us fucking go!" I grunt. Lexi and I are forced onto our knees and the soldiers tie our wrists up with rope behind our backs.
"Where are the other three?" One of the masked people inquire plainly. "We don't know, okay!?" Lexi cries. "Just take us back to the bunker! Give us your worst punishments there, we don't fucking care! Just leave these people alone!"
The masked soldier tilts his head to the side before scoffing. "You think we're bringing you back there? No, no. You all have ruined everything! Taking that antidote was the worst thing for everyone on this earth. We could've made millions of those things! But you greedy pigs took it before we even had the chance!"
Lexi and I glance at each other in worry. These bunker people have been lying to us since day one, but it isn't a shot in the dark to say that this soldier may be telling the truth. Did we actually... fuck everyone over?
"Now... any last words?" The man holds a gun to my head. Before he can do anything else, another soldier seems to stomp his way over to us quickly. "Hey, look who I found!" I turn my head around to see him holding Jasper and Noah by their arms firmly.
Jasp jerks at his arm a bit. "Let us go!"
The man ahead of me leans his head back in annoyance. "On your knees..."
Obviously, the two boys don't listen and the soldier pushes them down anyway. Their arms are binded behind their backs in seconds. The other soldiers surrounding go back to looking for other citizens, leaving just one with us.
"Now... how do I want to do this?" The man walks back and forth in front of us. As he contemplates, I hear a quiet noise behind Jasp. I don't make it obvious, but I glance over to see him desperately trying to cut through the rope with his pocket knife. Part of me wants to stop him, so he doesn't get caught. But I think saying anything would get him in more danger, so I let him do his thing.
