Time skip to about 3 months later~

(Lexi's POV)

It's been some time since our last encounter with a mob of zombies. Yes, we see individual ones here and there but it's nothing too serious. I'm very thankful for that.

Cooper and I have decided a name for that zombie Jasper and Noah distracted. We call them jabbers. We haven't come in contact with any of them but we did see a few forest animals with those needle-like spikes lodged into them. We think the zombie can retract these spikes onto victims, filling them with a sort of venom that kills instantly. We're lucky we haven't seen them but we're still on high alert.

For the past few months, we've been staying up in a mountain. It's quite a convenient place we found, actually. It's not too high up from the road, so Noah's fear of heights aren't at risk. The place is surrounded by timber but has plenty of space for our tents and gear. There's even a quarry just a walk down the mountain. That's very helpful for bathing.

Before you ask, yes this is sort of referencing where the group stayed in season one of "The Walking Dead". I just thought it fit!!

We've acquired more supplies and equipment over the past few months. More clothes, food, blankets, and plenty of other things.

Imagine the setup like this~

I actually feel safe for once during this whole outbreak. Cooper has still been training me over these last few months and I feel a lot safer by myself now.

Noah has learned a bit from Jasper as well. He's still the cautious Noah I know and love but I can tell he has gotten braver. I'm also glad he doesn't have to be alone during these times and that he has a friend. Jasper isn't cold to him much anymore. I think they're finally starting to get along, like real friends.

The sky begins to glow an orange and purple color. It glistens against the quarry. I look down to see Noah yelling at Jasper to stop splashing him.
