Plan Of Action

(Jasper's POV)

Jeanine drives us up to the front gate and we all hop out of the vehicle. "What's going on?" My worried brother asks instantly.

We make our way closer to the gate and see something that makes us all gag. "We found him like that this morning." Jeanine huffs.

Javier. I almost lost my lunch at the sight of his lifeless body. He's leaned against the gate while his blood fills the dirt below him. A large cut across his neck was no doubt the cause.

I glance over at Lexi and Noah. The duo stands a bit in shock and doesn't say a word. They don't need to be seeing this right now. They obviously just lost their mother and Jeanine really thought it would be a good idea to show them... this?!

"Who would do this?" I announce. Jeanine lets out a sigh and grabs a folded piece of paper from her pocket. "This was taped on his chest when we found him."

I grab the note and open it instantly. My eyes widen at the sight of the message.

You took something important to us, so we did the same to you. This will continue to happen if you don't bring yourselves back to the bunker. You four are good people, so this shouldn't be a hard decision. You wouldn't want to risk the lives of these innocent people would you?

I shudder at the note a bit before handing it to Cooper who also looks terrified. He decides to hand it to Lexi, probably because she would've put up a fight anyway, and Lexi hands it to Noah.

Noah drops the note in shock. "They found us. H-How did they find us?" Jeanine picks up the note. "Whatever is going on is obviously a threat to this community. I have shown Carlos and he himself said that if you fail to resolve the issue, you all will be out on your asses."

The four of us stay in a silent shock. Jeanine just gets back into the vehicle and drives away.

"Never knew Jeanine could be so cold." I huff out a laugh, trying to lighten the mood. My attempts obviously fail as nobody says anything in response.

"What are we going to do?" Lexi mumbles. "If we go there, they kill us. But if we stay here, they kill us anyway along with everyone in this town."

Cooper starts to pace quickly while having his thinking face on. "Well... we don't necessarily have to die."

I cock my head to the side. "We don't?" Cooper stands in place and shakes his head. "This town is pretty secure already, so we may be able to fight back. Obviously we need to make the gate safer since they've gotten in once before, and we would need to train the residents as soon as possible."

"Y-You think that could work?" Noah says nervously. Cooper nods immediately. "We have to try, and I'd say we have a good fucking chance of success."

"We should go tell Carlos then... hopefully he'll be on board with this." Lexi states. Cooper huffs a breath and nods his head towards the direction of Carlos' office.

Time skip to late afternoon~

Everyone has been preparing for whatever is going come.

I've been showing some other kids how to fight and stuff like that while Noah is helping with sorting out weapons.

After one of the kids I'm helping finishes with me, another walks up. I glance over at Noah and decide to take my chance. "Hey, I'm gonna take a five minute break kid. Just go hang out with your friends for a bit."

The kid nods and I instantly walk towards Noah. He awkwardly looks up from his job while sitting at a random picnic table, sorting the items out.

"Hey, can we talk? It'll only be a second.." I ask. He slowly nods and I take a seat next to him.

"I just... wanted to check on you again. Are you sure you're okay after what happened last night? I was really worried-"

"Jasper. I'm fine now, thanks to you. I'm just hoping it was a one time thing. If they start becoming regular like before I... well it would be hell."

"At least we kind of know how to stop them... or at least slow them down." I mumble worriedly. I decide to try and not look so gloomy for Noah's sake. I do not need to worry him and cause another panic attack.

"Hey, I'm sure it was just because of your stress last night. It's gonna be okay from here on out."

I stand up with a smile. "I've got to get back to work. Try and think happy thoughts." He nods. I peck him on the cheek and walk back to my training.

(Cooper's POV)

I'm in the middle of loading guns when I see Lexi sitting on a bench looking terrified.

I drop everything and make my way over to her. "Hey.. you doing okay?" I squat down to get at her level. She gives me a sad look and just nods.

I cock my head to the side. "Lexi, just tell me what's going on. Is it because of the bunker people?" She leans back a bit and nods her head. "These people hardly know their way around weapons or self defense in general." She says, stating the obvious.

"Well yeah, but I was able to teach you right? It only took you a month to get the basics down."

"Do we even have a month? They could be here any minute." Lexi groans into her hands. I take a seat next to her. "Well that's why we're barricading this town. It'll only take us a few days to reinforce it, and that will be done in no time with the whole town helping."

"You're probably right, I'm just.. not having a very good day." She mumbles and leans on my shoulder. "Why? What happened?"

Lexi shrugs. "I've been feeling sick all day. I don't know what it could possibly be from.." I just nod while listening. Hopefully none of the food is rotten; Maybe I should let Carlos know.

All of a sudden, Jeanine comes running up to us out of nowhere. "Cooper, Lexi, come quick." She huffs. I groan slightly. "Jeanine if it's another body then just tell us. We're already getting everything under control-"

"No. It's Jasper."
