(Lexi's POV)
I wake up to the sound of somebody vomiting outside of the tent. Oh, how lovely.
It's Noah, that fish probably wasn't good for his stomach. I confirm my theory as I look over to my side to see that Noah isn't there.
I groan. "Noah, you okay out there?" I say while pinching my nose from the smell. I hear him sniff his nose a bit and clear his throat. "Yeah.. I feel better now." He says groggily.
I change clothes quickly and then hop out of the tent, avoiding looking at the giant mess Noah had left there.
I walk up to where the rest of the group was chatting and saying their good mornings. Noah is also asking Macy if she has any medicine and I see her hand him a pill bottle. Thank god.
"Alright y'all, first order of business." I hear Delores say in a very happy tone. I'm glad she's doing better, losing Harold wasn't easy for her.
"We have a few boxes of weapons we need to carry to a better hiding spot Cooper has picked out for us. At the slight chance we ever have company, we can't have our weapons out in the open like this. We'd surely lose them all."
We all hum in agreement.
(Noah's POV)
After Cooper asks anyone available to volunteer, I make my way over to a box of weapons. Just as I go to pick it up, someone takes it before I do.
"Sorry kid, I got this one." An older man says. I just shrug it off and make my way to another.
"Maybe you should leave this to the muscle, shrimp." A lady with a southern accent says while swooping up the box easily.
I look around for more boxes but get cut off by Delores.
"Noah, sweetie, maybe just go help watch the kids. We've got it."
I clench my teeth in annoyance. Why is everyone assuming I can't do this? I saved everyone's asses a few months ago!
I walk away from her while nodding but continue to look for a box. Out of the corner of my eye, I finally see one. Yes!
Just before I grab it, a familiar arm scoops it up.
"Let me help you with that, Ashwell." Jasper smiles. I furrow my brows together tightly. "Seriously?"
Jasper's eyes widen at my tone. "Woah uh... I was just trying to help. You good?"
I lose my angry tone almost instantly. "Yes I- shit sorry. It's just... everyone keeps taking boxes from me and acting like I'm not strong enough to handle it myself."
I huff. "I think they all remember that 'panic attack' comment from a few months ago and now all they see me as is weak."
Jasper sets down the box and crosses his arms. "Well that's incredibly stupid if they aren't even letting you try..."
I shrug. Jasper grins a bit. "Well, take this one. Prove em' wrong."
My expression turns grateful. "Really?" He nods. "Of course. You had it first after all."
I grin and lean down to carry the box. My fingers wrap around the grips on the side before pulling the box up towards myself.
Only... it doesn't move off the ground. Fuck.
I pull extremely hard and manage to get it off the ground. Only problem was that my legs were too weak to support the weight.
"Woah-" I stammer before almost falling over.
A sudden force stops me and the weight of the box feels a lot lighter. Jasper.
"Jesus, you okay?" He huffs while holding the box up with me. My eyes widen before nodding.
"Y-Yes. All good." I smile awkwardly.
Jasper laughs a bit. "I'll help you carry this one." I laugh as well as we walk to where Cooper had said he wanted the boxes to go.
Time skip~
(Lexi's POV)
Delores stands in front of the group after all the weapons are hidden.
"Who's going to head out of here and get more supplies? There's been a few situations here and there and we need medical supplies. Pills, bandages, disinfectant, all that. Y'all will need to find a new store though, we've cleared out that little shop over these past few months."
I groan at that. It's gonna be hard to find another store with all of our necessities left untouched.
"I'll go, I mean I pretty much go every time so I know the things we'll need to grab." Cooper insisted. Delores gives a nod.
"You cool with us going?" A familiar voice says behind Cooper. I turn to see Jasper and Noah standing there, looking absolutely bored.
I expected Cooper to say no or snap at them or tell them that they're too young... but he didn't.
"Yeah, whatever. You guys can come." He turns to me. "You're coming with us though. There's no way in hell I'm going on a possibly long car ride by myself with these little shits." He snickered.
"Hey! Stop being so vulgar around them." I retort back.
"You're not serious. Jasper's sixteen and Noah's barley a year behind him. They've heard this shit before." Cooper shrugs.
We all grab things to take in the car with us. Noah grabs a pocket knife Jasper had given him a while back, Jasper grabs a machete, I grab the handgun that Cooper has been training m with for the past few months, and Cooper grabs his shotgun. We all load up into the car. Cooper in the drivers seat, me in the passengers seat, and Jasper and Noah in the back. Once buckled up we head down the road.
We sit in silence for a good five minutes, it is quite awkward actually. Jasper breaks the silence by saying, "Hey, can we turn on the radio or something?"
"Yeah genius, because the radio towers are definitely working." Cooper says sarcastically.
Jasper rolls his eyes. As we drive down the road, we occasionally see small towns and shops. We decide not to stop due to mobs of zombies all around those places. It could be a while before we find a town with supplies that has little to no zombies.
A/N~ yeahhh so this is kinda a filler chapter, i plan on something big happening soon so just wait ;) sorry this took so long!!
