Jealous?

(Cooper's POV)

I didn't mean to make things awkward with Lexi. Maybe I can talk to her later about things. And... maybe she has mutual feelings.

We make it back to our pod eventually. Before we open the door, someone runs up to us. "Hello! The board is having a party tonight in the cafeteria. It's not for children though, considering there will be alcohol. It's also pretty formal so dress nicely. Please consider joining us." The lady hands us a flyer before making her way to another pod.

Lexi looks at me, I can already tell that she wants to go. I roll my eyes. "Fine. We need to make sure Noah and Jasper are back here and not messing around though." She nods a bunch excitedly. We enter our pod to find Jasper sharpening his knife on his bed.

"Oh you're back? Where's Noah?" Lexi inquires. Jasper just shrugs as he lets out a groan.

I give Lexi a nod to leave the room and she follows my directions. "I'm gonna go look for Noah." She shuts the door behind her.

"Jasper what the hell is going on? You guys are always together." I say firmly.

He sets his knife on his bedside table before slouching into his headboard. "I don't know... we made new friends at lunch and now everyone wants to be all buddy buddy with him... or at least one person."

"So you're jealous?" I smirk in a teasing manor. He looks at me like I'm crazy. "What? Of course not! I don't care who he hangs out with.."

"So you're just whining for no reason then?" I quirk up an eyebrow. He tries to think of an excuse but gives up. "Yeah... I guess it is for no reason." He finally surrenders.

"That's what I thought. How about instead of moping, you help us find him. You both need to stay here for the rest of the night. Lexi wants to go to this adult party that's being held tonight in the cafeteria. There's no kids allowed so you have to stay here."

Jasper groans into his pillow. I sigh. "If we sneak you guys some snacks, will you be more cooperative?"

He instantly hops out of bed and just nods. I laugh a bit at his antics. "Alright let's go find him."

(Jasper's POV)

Before we exit the pod, a knock is heard on the door. Cooper raises an eyebrow before opening it.

Ms. Ashwell?

"Hi Cooper.. listen. I know you and Lexi will be at the party tonight so I was wondering if I could spend some time with Noah while you're out? It would be nice to catch up..."

She notices me in the room as well. "Oh and... you can come along too if you would like."

Cooper nods. "Hey, do whatever you want. He's your kid. And I'd trust you with them more than them by themselves, that's for sure." He laughs.

She nods. "Well... where is he?"

"Most likely the library. We can walk together." I shrug. She nods. "Very well then."

We exit the pod and start down the hallway.

(Noah's POV)

"Hey uh... are we supposed to check out books here or do we just take them?" I question Ryder and Rae while closing my book. They both look up from their books. "It's sorta like a borrowing system here. If someone were to steal a book, it's not like they could really get that far or hide it anyway. So people just take and return. Plus nobody comes here much anyway so it wouldn't matter." Rae explains with a grin.

"Okay great, I think I'm gonna head back to my pod now but thank you guys for the company and all." I shrug.

"I can walk you if you want? It's kinda boring to walk that whole way by yourself you know..." Ryder grins politely.
