(Noah's POV)
I huff a short breath as I finish organizing the weapons and ammo. Finally done.
That took a lot longer than I was hoping. I look around to see a few less people than before. Where's Jasper? I suddenly feel a heavy hand on my shoulder.
"There you are-" I begin to say but I cut myself off. My eyes go a bit wide to see that the person was not Jasper at all. "How's it going Nathan?" He says.
Asher. (If you don't remember who this is, go back to the chapter, Something "Cool")
"It's actually.. Noah. And I'm fine." I say while he nods and takes a seat next to me. I'm not really comfortable with him being here. He almost killed me after all.
The air is silent before I clear my throat awkwardly.
"You aren't gonna throw another biter my way are you?" I mumble. He raises an eyebrow in wonder but remembers instantly. "Oh right.. that. Y'know I'm real sorry about that. I didn't realize how shitty I was being."
I shrug. "You're not as bad as some of the people I've met. Obviously you know that, considering you know why we're barricading in the first place." It was pretty bad though. He would've let me be eaten if Jasper wasn't there.
We talk for a little while longer.
"So where's your friend... Julian was it? I can't really remember-"
"I'm right here." A familiar voice says. I look up to see Jasper looking at us conversing. He doesn't look happy. My guess is that he remembers the whole situation.
"It's actually Jasper." He scowls. Asher glances at me for some help. "Hey, I was just talking to Asher. We were uh.. talking about the whole 'biter training situation'."
"That night was hilarious. I mean, we were so immature." Asher laughs a bit. My eyebrows furrow together in irritation.
"We?" Jasper turns to Asher. "You almost killed him. You do realize that, right?" He states coldly.
Asher cocks his head to the side. "I guess there's no point trying to rekindle a friendship with you, Julian. You clearly have your opinion on me set."
Asher stands up to get at Jasper's level. Oh no.
"For the last damn time, it's Jasper."
"Julian is a far better name. Jasper is a name for a dog."
"You don't want to start something right now."
"Let's say I do.. what exactly are you going to do about it? Are you going to beat me mercilessly? That'll really show your friend here what a great guy you are."
"He's not my friend. He's-"
"He's not your friend? Of course you're the type of guy to push everyone away from you when the world goes to shit. Classic."
Jasper takes a good look around at everyone surrounding us.
"Jasper," I start. "Let's just leave. Calm down." I rest a hand on his shoulder. Jasper tightens his jaw a bit before shaking his head. "Y'know what? No. I'm done letting him get away with his bullshit."
"Jasper you shouldn't. He's just trying to get under your skin. This is all irrelevant, okay?"
"It's not irrelevant!" He turns to me. "You do realize you could have died back then, right? And you're acting like it's whatever. Well I can't act like that. Because if I let this slide, he's never gonna let me hear the end of it."
