Curiosity In The Lab

A/N- This chapter will be in Jasper's and Noah's POV. And it will all be happening while Lexi and Cooper are at the party. Hopefully that made sense~

(Jasper's POV)

Noah and I snuck out a little while ago after Cooper and Lexi left for their "adult party." Naturally we were bored and needed something to do so we left and now we're walking the halls of this place trying to figure out something to do.

We come up to the disease control lab and notice it had been closed for the night. Most likely because of the party that was happening a few halls down.

Noah stands on his tippy toes, as he is shorter, to see through the window on the door. "I think all of the scientists are at the party. Which is surprising considering everyone's telling us how serious they are about finding an antidote." He lowers himself and turns back to me.

"It's a shame though, I was hoping to ask them what exactly they're using to come up with the antidote..." Noah trails off. I look back and fourth between Noah and the door.

"Why don't we find out ourselves...?" I smirk as I look at the door's handle. He gives me a confused look before realizing. He grabs my hand before I can even reach for the handle. "We can't. What if we mess something up? Or what if-"

"Noah, I promise you, we'll be fine. We just won't touch anything, okay?" I reassure, hoping that the he changes his mind. He furrows his eyebrows before nodding hesitantly.

I reach for the handle once again, praying that the scientists were dumb enough to keep it unlocked.

Luck is in my favor as the door creaks open. I step in and flip one of the light switches to my right. One dim light appears in the back of the laboratory, but it's enough for us to see and enough so we don't draw attention.

We both step inside and Noah closes the door behind us as quietly as possible.

Noah starts to look at paper work on the long filed tables as I continue to take in the scenery. Something catches my eye.

"Hey Noah, maybe if the scientists were wanting to hide something, they'd do it behind that." I point to a curtain with lights shining behind it and Noah's eyes widen.

"Yeah... they probably would." He says in awe while walking over to the curtain. We make it over to the curtain and I hesitantly reach my hand towards it.

Once I grip the curtain, Noah steps behind me a bit. I count down with my fingers. 3..2..1..

I pull the curtain swiftly and reveal a rectangle like structure. It has a lock on the side and the top is glass, along with the other sides. The glass is fogged up so neither of us can see what's inside.

A/N- It looks like that ^^

Noah walks up to the glass and wipes off the fogginess. He lets out a gasp and steps back, bumping into me. "What is it Noah?" I say while gripping his shoulders.

"See for yourself." He stammers. I quirk an eyebrow before walking past him and looking into the glass case. I let out a gasp almost identical to Noah's as I look down at what I'm seeing.

A biter.

"Why would they have one in here?" I question while removing my hand. Noah steps up beside me. "I mean... it makes sense that they would use a biter to make an antidote. But why isn't it moving? Is it dead?"

The biter's eyes lay closed and there is no sign of movement on it at all. "I'm not sure. I'm just curious on why they would use this case, it doesn't seem very secure after all." I bend down and tap the glass.

A sudden movement comes from the biter. It was flinching at my noise. "Cut that out, Jasp." Noah says worriedly. I roll my eyes playfully. "Noah what's he gonna do? I'm just tapping the glass."

I continue to make the biter flinch at my small noises. "Jasper I'm not kidding! Quit it!" He smacks my arm. "Alright alright I'm sorry, I'll stop." I surrender.

He nods. I step out of his way, while still looking at him. "You know Noah, I was thinking that maybe-"

My body takes in a sudden impact as I fall to the floor. "Oh shit-" A loud crash comes from a cart of tools being knocked over by me.

(Noah's POV)

I whip my head back to the biter. It's eyes fling wide open and it screams, not snarls. This biter doesn't seem normal. It starts to thrust in its glass encasement.

I turn back to Jasper and the biter continues to scream and wail. "We need to leave." He says to me while pulling my arm. I oblige and we make our way out of the lab.

Jogging down the hall, Jasper seems to repeat the same thing to me. "We know nothing. We saw nothing. We heard nothing."

I just nod and continue to run.

Once back to our pod, we thank God that Lexi and Cooper weren't back yet. Before Jasper climbs into his bed, I grab his arm. "You don't think we messed up that bad right? Like the scientists won't know it was us? And what about the biter? I mean it definitely wasn't normal. And-"

He raises a hand to interrupt my talking. "Noah, we really shouldn't have gone in there and that's on me. We did wake up a crazy biter, and I knocked over one of their tool carts..." He trails off.

"...but?" I ask. Jasper lets out a laugh. "But nothing, that's all I've got." I just laugh with him.

My face turns a bit more serious as thoughts run through my head. "You don't think the biter will cause much trouble... do you?" I mumble. Jasper shakes his head. "Doubt it. We woke it up so.. it probably just went back to sleep." He shrugs.

I give a worried look but nod anyway. Jasper sighs. "Try not to worry, okay?" He then leans down and connects our lips, which I obviously do not expect at all.

I don't even kiss back I'm so stunned. He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. "Shit sorry. Bad timing, huh?" He laughs.

I slowly blink before clearing my throat. "N-No that's okay. You caught me off guard." My face turns red.

Jasper grins. "We should get to sleep. But I promise that everything will be fine. He pulls me into a short hug which I return.

I nod at that and make my way to my bed. I cover myself up with my blanket and close my eyes.

Before falling asleep, I hear a very drunk Lexi enter the room and laugh to myself. Wait til' I tell her about this.
