(Lexi's POV)

Cooper and I have been walking around this place for half an hour now, trying to find something to do. We already went to the training room and the medical ward... what else could we-

"Hey are you two busy?!" Cooper and I both glance over at the voice. It came from a woman who had a look of worry on her face. She was leaning forward and gripping a doorframe to...

I look up at a sign that says Daycare Center.

Gripping a doorframe to the entrance of the Daycare Center. I finally answer. "No we aren't, what's the problem?" Cooper and I trot over.

"One of the babies seems to of come down with a high fever. I need to take him to the medical ward but I can't leave all these children here alone and-"

"Say no more." I interrupt. "Go ahead and take him to a nurse, we can watch the kids." Cooper gives me a 'why the fuck did you just volunteer me for something' look but I ignored it.

"Thank you so much! I'll be sure to make it up to both of you!" She runs back inside and grabs a stroller that has a sneezing baby inside.

"Aww... feel better baby." I pout. I hate when babies are anything but happy and cute. She rushes out of the door and slams it shut. Cooper and I turn around towards the other kids.

About six other kids were playing. The youngest one could only crawl but you could tell she had a full diaper. She didn't have much hair on her head but she was still adorable.

There were two red headed twin boys who seemed to be about four years old, who were playing with building blocks and making a tower.

Three other kids, who all looked to be about seven or eight years old, were screaming and fighting over something in their lego duplo set.

I look to Cooper and groan. He looks at me and does a fake pout. "That's what happens when you volunteer without thinking."

We take one last look around. Our eyes both landed on the crawling baby. "Not it!" Cooper then touches his nose.

I roll my eyes. "Stop acting like a middle schooler. I'll change her if you get those three to stop arguing." Cooper instantly says 'okay' before making his way towards the children. I bend down and pick up the little girl. I notice a changing table and lay her down.

After changing her and putting on a new little outfit, I carry her towards the previously fighting kids. Cooper had sat them all down in front of the Daycare's TV and they were all sitting in bean bags chairs.

The little girl babbles in my arms and starts to play with my tied up hair. I just giggle at her and bounce her a bit.

Cooper seems to notice because he gets up from his bean bag. "I will never change your diaper, just so you know." He points at the little girl which makes her giggle.

I roll my eyes. "It's not that bad, y'know. Look how happy she is now." I continue to bounce her and smile as she babbles.

Cooper seems to smile a bit. I notice a soft gray couch with toys scattered on it. The children must've been playing on it.

Cooper notices it as well and proceeds to walk up to it and clean off the toys. He sits down and then pats a spot beside him, for me and the baby.

I take my seat and the little girl continues to play with my ponytail. "You know, this babysitting job isn't actually that b-"

A pain in my ear cuts me off and I yelp.

I look over at the baby and realized that she had tugged on my earring a bit, causing it to hurt. She looks at my ear and me back and fourth before wailing.

"No no no no, baby it's okay I didn't get hurt..." I hug her but nothing works. The baby glances at everything but me and her eyes soon land on Cooper.

She makes a pouty crying face before making grabby hands at him. He looks at me like he doesn't know what to do, so I place the baby in his arms.

She rests her head on his shoulder and sucks her thumb while calming down. I give a sympathetic smile.

After about five minutes, she's out cold. Cooper gets up and places her in a crib gently. He walks back over and flops on the couch.

"Wasn't too bad, right?" I giggle. He shakes his head and rolls his eyes. He sits up a bit and turns to me. "Does your ear still hurt? I wonder if she pulled the earring out..."

Cooper turns my head to face him. His hand trails along the side of my face before reaching my ear. Now that I think about it, he's incredibly close. His hand still rests there and pushes my ear a bit. "Ya feel that?" He says. He makes eye contact with me and he seems to notice the distance between us as well.

We freeze like that for a second. "U-uh.." I stammer. Before I can say anything else, I am interrupted.

"Ew are day gonna kith or sumping?!" One of the red headed twins blurt out. My face goes as red as their hair and I remove myself from his grip to stand up.

"Haha! Funny! Let's all play a game or something! When do your parents come again?!" I clasp my hands together aggressively.

We play games for another fifteen minutes before parents file in to get their children. The lady comes back with the baby around the same time and thanks us for the help. We both reassure her that it was no big deal.

Cooper and I wave our goodbyes and start down the hallway to our pod. The air is silent and awkward.

"Hey Lex um... about-"

"You were really good with the baby!" I interrupt. I did not need to have that conversation right now.

"Oh.. well thanks." He says plainly. The air is silent for the rest of the walk back. Wait till I rant to Noah about this...
