(Jasper's POV)

I really have to pee.

I let out a large sigh. I hop out of bed and carefully maneuver myself around the dark room.

I open my brown door and look across the hall. From under Noah's door, I see a light peering out.

I walk up to his slightly open door and open it completely, yet quietly. I laugh at the sight I see.

Noah had fallen asleep reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He was lying on the floor with a flashlight left turned on unintentionally.

"Noah." I whisper. He doesn't budge. "Noah. Wake up and go sleep in your bed. You're gonna be so sore in the morning if you sleep like that."

No reply. Great.

"Dammit Noah." I huff as I walk towards him. I strategically grab his book from his hands and fold the corner of the page so he doesn't loose his spot. I close the book and toss it on his desk. I grab the flashlight and turn it off and setting it aside.

"Fuck, you better not be heavy." I groan. I carefully pick up Noah's smaller body. He's not as heavy as I thought.

I maneuver myself through the small dark room and lay him on his bed, covering him with his comforter soon after.

He rolls over and his chestnut hair falls over his face. I huff a laugh out before hearing a creak in the hallway.

My eyes bolt up out of surprise and I see a tall figure standing in the doorway.

Cooper.

"I got up to get some water... why are you in Noah's room?" He inquires.

I step away from Noah's bed and over to Cooper. "Shh. You might wake him up." I hush. "Okay. So answer my question." He states while taking a sip from his water bottle.

"Well... I got up to pee a few minutes ago. I saw that he had passed out on his floor reading a book so I decided to put him in his bed." I whisper quickly. Cooper quirks an eyebrow at me while screwing the cap onto his water bottle.

"Hmm... well then. Why didn't you just.. I don't know.. wake him up?" Cooper retorts. "No I tried to. Every time he just stayed planted. I decided that I didn't want him to be sore when he woke up and moved him myself." I reply.

He nods his head and smirks.

"What?!" I whisper shout. "Shh. And no, it's nothing. I was just remembering a thing Lexi was talking about in the car before we crashed. She mentioned you as a... how did she put it? ...caretaker, that's it."

I give a confused look. "What do you mean caretaker?" Cooper ruffles his jet black bed head and huffs a laugh. "All you do is take care of the kid. You're either suddenly s u p e r nurturing, you're not, or you're in love with him."

I nod until I realize what he had said. "WHAT?!" I holler. Cooper gives me a stern look to be quiet, looking from me and Noah back and fourth. Noah rolls a bit but doesn't wake up.

My hands wave a sorry and I continue. "What did you just say?" I retort more quietly this time. "You heard me. Y'know, Dad always taught us to go after what we want in life. So stop being a little bitch and just admit it to him already." Cooper yawns.

I stand there, my jaw on the floor. Cooper just breaths a tired laugh and walks away. I leave the room quickly and head to the bathroom to do my business, finally.

I take the fastest pee ever and rush back to my room, shutting the door quickly. I flop face first onto my bed and groan. How the fuck did he figure that out so easily.

I annoyingly get under my covers and pass out with embarrassment on my shoulders.

(Lexi's POV)

I wake up with a huge smile on my face. Last night, Cooper had told me about his little conversation with Jasper and I'm overjoyed.

I roll out of bed and look at my desk. I see an assortment of brushes, makeup, and hair clips. Carlos or Jeanine must have put these things here for the people who move in.

I put on the same clothes I wear everyday and sit down at my desk. I brush my hair and put on a bit of mascara and concealer and head out of my room.

I walk into our kitchen and see Cooper eating a protein bar. His bed head is crazy-

"Oh hey. Jeanine dropped a basket of goods for throughout the week." He holds it up and waves it a bit before setting it back on the counter.

"Oh, coolio." I say in a chipper tone. "What's got you so excited?" He states.

I usher myself quickly over to him and whisper, "Oh I don't know. Maybe the thing that you told me last night!" Cooper tiredly laughs. "Ah right. Well don't make it obvious. They don't need you ruining everything by blabbing it to everyone." He says.

I hit his bare arm playfully. "I wouldn't do that." He just hums a sarcastic mhm and grabs a paper off of the counter.

"They also left us a calendar for the week. Like things that we need to attend in order to stay here. Shit like that." He munches on his last bite of protein bar.

"Okay, at least that's something to do." I yawn. "Also... what are we going to do about our camp? We need to go find them all."

Cooper's eyes widen as if he had only just remembered our people. "We need to make a decision. We either try and get Carlos to let them all stay here, or we leave this place and go back to our camp in the woods." Cooper states.

I ponder my thoughts. "Think about it this way.." Cooper says. "Is it safer in here or out there? Noah seems a bit more at ease now, don't you think? And even if they don't let our people in-"

I interrupt his sentence. "NO! We can't just leave them to fend for themselves! There's like eight children there and twenty adults! We were the only thing keeping them alive after Harold died!"

Cooper pinches the bride of his nose, annoyed. "I'm not saying they won't be let in. But at the chance that it happens, we have to do what's best for us."

I shake my head vigorously. "No! This discussion is over! They stay or we all leave!" I yell while rushing towards the door. "I'm gonna go get to know the townspeople." I slam the door, my ears steaming with rage.

I walk down the sidewalk and see a flyer put up. TONIGHT- Town get together to get to know our new arrivals better! Dress your best! My mood lightens a bit at that.

Cooper better think about others for once.
