Late Night Reassurances

(No one's POV)

As night falls, the group decides it would be best to get some rest. Cooper and Jasper settle into the pink carnation designed comforter while Noah and Lexi sleep under a daisy covered one.

"Get as much rest as you can. We have a long way home tomorrow." Cooper insists from his and Jasper's bed.

Lexi and Noah nod their heads before closing their eyes and letting the silence put them to rest.

Short time skip~

(Noah's POV)

I stir in bed, unable to sleep. If Lexi tries anything, she's dead. Jasper and I just started being friends. I'm not ruining that.

I decide that sleep isn't gonna work right now. I lay on my back and stare at the paint spotted ceiling. I hear the opposite bed creak.

"Psst, Noah are you awake?" Jasper. Of course. I sit up and look over to him. "Yeah. You can't sleep either?"

"Nah, Cooper is kind of a bed hog." He laughs quietly. I breathe out a laugh as well.

We sit there for a few seconds in silence before Jasper states..

"We should go do something."

"What do you mean? We have to stay here or else something could happen." I retort back. Jasper quietly gets up from his bed and walks over to me. "You're always so worried. You can't just live your life in complete fear."

"We're in an apocalypse, being scared isn't exactly that out of the ordinary." I sit back and look up at the ceiling. "Besides, we're in a shabby motel. What's there to do anyways?"

"Anything's better than staring blankly at a ceiling for the next eight hours, right?" I sit up. "I... I still don't know.. what if we didn't catch all of the biters? What if- "

"Enough with the what if's" Jasper interrupts me. "How about this. If you get the feeling that something bad is gonna happen, then you say the word. We'll come straight back." I think for a second. "I'll even bring my knife, just in case."

"Okay, but seriously talk quieter. I'm surprised they haven't woken up yet." I say while looking towards the sleeping duo.

Jasper scoffs, as if brushing away my worries. He holds out his hand to help me up and I take it. We walk towards the door where Jasper opens it as quietly as possible.

Once out, he shuts the door and exclaims. "Alright, let's explore."

(Lexi's POV)

Damn. I really have to pee.

I stir awake quietly, not wanting to wake up Noah. I look in his direction to make sure I succeeded in keeping quiet. Wait.

Fuck, where is he?!

I glance over at the bathroom to see the door wide open and it being very empty.

I quickly get out of bed and rush to Cooper. I vigorously shake his shoulders. "Holy fuck- what the hell are you doing?!" He mumbles quietly and annoyed.

"Noah's missing and I- I don't know what to do and-"

"Oh right. Yeah, calm down I know where they are." He says while sitting up. I sit down next to him waiting for him to explain. "They thought I was asleep but I heard them talking about going to kill time. They both couldn't sleep so they decided to explore the motel I guess." Cooper says through a yawn.

A smile forms on my face. "So they... went off together. Okay... okay."

Cooper gives me a confused look. "What're you on about?"
