(Noah's POV)

After Lexi and I separate off and head towards our rooms, I can't help but hear someone down the hall. Walking away from my room and towards Cooper and Jasper's, I hear faint talking through the door.

"I just don't get why you look so upset. You were fine before you went downstairs—"

"Jasper, just quit it! If you're going to be up my ass about everything then just go sleep on the couch. I'm done." Cooper yells. I hear Jasper scoff before creaky floorboards near the door.

I don't even realize it when he swings the door open and trots out into the hallway, bumping into me, pillow in hand. "Ah— Noah?" He gasps before holding his hand to his chest. "Jesus. You can't just stand in dark hallways, Ashwell. It's kinda creepy." He teases with a smile, as if an argument between him and Cooper didn't just happen a moment ago.

"I heard shouting... is everything okay?" I tilt my head to the side. The brunet rolls his eyes with a scoff. "Oh, Cooper's just being... Cooper. I try to be nice and thoughtful and he just takes  it as me being nosy. But, whatever. To the couch I go." Jasper shrugs, walking passed me towards the stairs.

An urge rushes through me. Should I tell him about what Lexi just told me? Maybe... not? She confided in me, right? It would be wrong to tell-

"Noah." A voice interrupts my thoughts. I glance up to see Jasper holding onto the railing of the stairs, just rocking a goofy grin.

"Yeah?"

"I said goodnight. I'll see you tomorrow."

Before I know it, I'm rushing over and grabbing his arm. "Wait, no. I can't sleep. You should come talk to me. Besides, you seem pretty awake yourself after that argument." I shrug with a hopeful smile. Sometimes I forget that Jasper and I are together. That we don't just have to talk about biters and death and my terrifying mother. Maybe I just need some time with him after that depressing talk with Lex.

"Ah, okay. Sure."

After entering my room and shutting the door, Jasper lets out a goofy laugh. "This room is tiny. Now I feel a bit bad taking that master bedroom."

"It's about the same size as my room back home. I guess that's why I'm not too uncomfortable here." I mumble while climbing under my covers and patting a spot for Jasper to lay. He obliges and we both just stare at the ceiling, wide awake.

"So, Noah Ashwell, what's on your mind?" Jasper turns to face me, seemingly bored. I copy his action and shrug into my pillow. "I honestly don't know. I just wanted to talk to you because.. I missed you. We can talk about whatever, I don't really care." A laugh escapes my mouth. "Plus the couch looks kinda moldy. You're better off in here."

"Okay... how about a little question and answer. Truth or truth?" Jasper shrugs. I tilt my head to the side. "Isn't that pretty much the same thing as having a normal conversation?"

"Yes, but it gives it a fun name. You go first, ask me anything."

I lay there for a good while, trying to think up something. And embarrassingly so, the first question that pops into my mind is about relationships.

"Am I the first person you ever... dated? Sorry, I know that's corny."

"No. Okay, my turn—"

"Wait, really?" I sit up. "Who was it?"

Jasper copies my action and furrows his brows. "You're cheating, dork. That's two questions in a row. My turn." I roll my eyes and slump a bit. "I... okay. Go ahead."

"Have you dated anyone before me?"

"Ooh, what an original question." I eye him, and he shoves me a bit. "C'mon, answer the question." He smiles. Subconsciously, my face seems to heat up. "Well... no."
