For most of his life, Mello was very touch adverse. Between the rather sterile learning of Wammy's to life after running away, he didn't have much physical contact other than Matt, and they weren't the cuddliest of pals.

So it truly came as a surprise to him with how much he loved your warmth, your touch against him. From the first time your palm would gently cup his face and he couldn't help but lean into you, he knew he was hooked.

He would tell himself not to in public, not to make you a liability in his enemies eyes, but always cracked and held your hand in his, thumb caressing yours all the while, spending all the time he could at hideouts being tucked safely in your arms.

Mello isn't good with words or actions, or expressing himself very well at all, but each time he sinks into your embrace with a content sigh and fully opening himself to your affection, you know how much it means to him.
