Cass expected screaming, shouting and yelling, what she got was much worse. For two whole hours, she was forced to watch her mother sob and blubber on, about how she failed as a mother. Her father Oswald came home an hour in, and tried his best to console his wife.

Cassandra sat through it all with a bored expression on her face. She couldn't decide if she should feel sorry she had caused so much trouble, or tell her mother to shut up. Watching the older witch, have a mental breakdown about the young girl embarrassing her and their family name, was honestly a bit pathetic. Cassie loved her mother, but she could be a tad bit dramatic at times.

What really hurt Cass, was her fathers disappointing looks, and the way he couldn't even glance at her without letting out a sigh of regret. It broke the girls heart more, when he looked up at Cassandra and quietly told her to go to her room.

The week leading up to September the first was painful, her mother still couldn't look her in the eye and Oswald would only speak to her if it was dinner time, or bed time. The only people who would have a proper conversation with her were Pepper, the house elf, who helped raise Cassie and Aurelia, Cass' younger sister by three years.

Aurelia was what people would call the 'golden child', which is actually what her name means. She would always listen to her mother's orders and never caused any trouble, unlike Cass, who would always be in some sort of mess. Whether it was a prank gone wrong or her clumsiness taking over, causing her to drop an expensive heirloom or another.

Aurelia would spend her time practicing her walk, or trying to make herself look elegant, it was no secret that she was Akilahs favorite. It used to bother Cass, but not so much anymore, as she realized, she liked the way she was, and didn't want to change anything just to impress her mother.

The sisters conversations were always full of little giggles and whispers. Although they were polar opposites, they got along remarkably well.

When the day Cassandra would go to Hogwarts came, she woke with an early start at six am, to have time to double check everything. She was practically bursting with excitement. Oswald expected her buzz to die down over a bit, but all through the four and a half hours of waiting, she hadn't stopped bouncing and smiling in anticipation.

So there they were, standing outside The Hogwarts Express, at half ten, the train would leave at eleven. Her bags were already packed onto the train and all that was left before she boarded, was the families goodbyes.

"I know we've had a rough week, but I want you to know I'm very, very proud of you. Ravenclaw will get a bright and brilliant addition to their house, I just know it." Oswald said, while pulling her into one last hug.

Aurelia was clung onto her older sister crying, repeating how much she'll miss her like a mantra, while her mother scolded her about losing control.

When it came to Akilahs goodbye, she looked down upon her daughter, making the girl feel as if she had done something wrong.

"If you don't get into Ravenclaw, don't bother coming home." She stated shortly.

Cassandra raised her eyebrows in shock, not expecting that, and quickly looked over to her father, who had opened his mouth in protest, but only shook his head and turned to Cass.

"You don't have to worry about that, ok."

Hesitantly Cassie nodded at his words, but she couldn't stop the thoughts that raced a hundred times a second.

'If she didn't get into Ravenclaw, what would happen?'
'Surely her mother didn't actually mean what she had said, right?'
'I'm her daughter, her own flesh and blood, she couldn't just kick me out,'
'Father would never let that happen, would he?'

No more was said as she turned around and stalked over to the train, with a wave goodbye she disappeared through the sliding door.

In one of the many compartments, stood Chance Kingston. The Kingston's were a long line of pure blood Slytherins, who believed muggle-borns are not worthy of studying magic. Chance never really understood why, but he took his parents word for it.

He was currently practicing the levitating charm on a sweet wrapper he had found on the ground. He knew he wasn't supposed to know any magic yet, but his parents wanted him to be ahead in classes, so they hired someone to teach him a few things.

As the sweet wrapper flew above his head, he heard a soft gasp. Startled he snapped his head around to the compartment door. There stood a blonde girl his age with bright blue eyes. She was staring up at the wrapper in awe, as if she had never before witnessed magic.

The boy found himself trying to impress the girl by bringing the pink and white wrapper over in front of her and got butterflies, when she smiled and giggled softly. He watched her, completely mesmerized, like he was stuck in a trance. He was so distracted, he didn't hear his friends laughs coming up the passageway. It was only when one of them spoke did he notice their presence.

"You look like you've never seen magic preformed at all." stated Adrian Pusey, suspicious of the girl.

"Oh, I haven't, I'm very new to this world, my parents are both muggles." She replied gently. "I'm Caterina Viotto. It's nice to actually talk to someone here, I hate being alone." As she introduced herself, she held out her small hand for someone to shake.

Pusey looked appalled and leaned back in disgust. "Get your mudblood hands away from me, do you think I want to get infected, do you?!"

Miles Bletchley, who had yet to say anything whispered "Filthy scum." under his breath, and although it was quiet, Caterina heard it clear as day.

She retreated her hand in shock, not expecting such words. The poor girl froze, not knowing what to do next.

Chance held his breath, confused by the whole situation. His parents had said that Muggle-Borns were monsters. But the blonde looked nothing like his parents description, in fact he would say she looked like an angel, with her long wavy blonde hair and soft pale skin. He was speechless, if his father knew this was happening right now-, well he'd prefer not to think of it.

The two boys Adrian and Miles continued to fire insult after insult. Chance could see tears building in Caterinas eyes, but she refused to let them fall. He wanted to tell them to stop or go away, but he just couldn't.

"Shut up, and leave her the fuck alone!!"

Everyone turned their heads to the new voice. It was a small girl with long light brown hair, and blue eyes, though not as bright as Caterinas. You could see anger written all over her face and fire in her eyes.

The two boys fell silent immediately, even if they wouldn't admit it, they looked terrified of the girl. Miles gapped like a fish, trying to come up with something to say, but before he could get one word out, the brunette stormed past them.

She softly grabbed the blonde girl by the arm and lead her away, giving dirty looks to the boys, including Chance.

As soon as she found an empty compartment, she sat down with the girl and hugged her, soothing her with comforting words until she stopped crying.

When Caterina eventually stopped crying, she looked up at the brunette with tear stained cheeks.

"Thank you," she sniffled "my names Caterina, Caterina Viotto."

"Don't worry that was nothing, I'm just glad your away from them. My names Cassandra Harper, but you can call me Cassie."
