"So, good Christmases?" Professor Sinistra asked suspiciously, standing over Cassandra and Zephyr, as they sat on the floor surrounded by blankets, in the middle of astronomy class.

The two girls shifted uncomfortably, trying not to make eye contact with the eager Professor. Sinistra was almost hopping with anticipation and Cass and Zephyr couldn't figure out why. Cassie cleared her throat.

"Yeah, yeah, it was-, grand yeah." She answered, hoping that would be enough to make the woman leave. But they had no such luck, as Sinistra kept going, bitting her lip slightly.

"Christmas time is a lovely time for couples, don't you think?" She questioned with a quick pace, the girls merely nodded in response, with tight lipped smiles, hiding their clasped hands under the blanket. "You em," the Professor paused, raising her eyebrows even more, "know any, couples?"

Zephyr frowned and glanced at Cassie, thinking of how Cass never asked for them to become official. She slowly retracted her hand back to her side, already missing the warmth Cassie provided. A crease made its way in between Cassies eyebrows, confused, but didn't think much of it.

"No." Zephyr answered Sinistra stiffly, her tone worrying Cassie. Sinistras face dropped.

"Are- are you sure?" She asked, her eyes darting between the girls, rocking back and forth on her heals nervously. "You- you can tell me, I'm-I'm like- the cool teacher." Cassie cringed and went to share a look with Zephyr, but Zephyr didn't bother move her head. "By any chance, are either of you, in a couple?" Sinistras voice got higher and higher as she spoke.

Cassandras eyes widened as she stared at the Professor, not sure what to say to such a question. Zephyr on the other hand, had no problem answering, though the conversation confused her greatly.

"No." She said in a stern voice, Cass turned her gaze to the girl, but Zephyr wouldn't look at her. Cassie bit her bottom lip and studied the floor beneath them instead.

Sinistra froze at Zephyrs answer, then frowned, glancing at Cass, who had her eyes glued to the floor. "Oh," she breathed out, trying to cover up her disappointment, "right." All she needed was for them to say they were together, then she could be just that much richer, but that obviously wasn't gonna happen any time soon.

"Well then get on with your work." She then glided away, with squinted eyes. Cassie let out a light chuckle, glancing back up at Zephyr.

"Well, that wasn't odd at all, she's definitely been hanging around Professor Trawlany to much." She joked awkwardly, with a crooked smile on her face. Zephyr just let out a hum of agreement and got back to her work.

"Is something bothering you-." Cassie asked softly, Zephyr answered curtly.

"I'm fine."

Her response made Cassie suck in a breath, knowing the girl was not fine, but not knowing why. "You can talk to me you know." She stated softly, Zephyr finally connected their eyes, giving her a nod.
