Cassandras face lit up and her heart skipped a beat at the sight of Zephyrs long blonde hair. Cass ushered Ron and Harry along to the common room, jogging up to the girl, almost tripping over her own to feet. The two boys sniggered at the lovestruck girl and ran off.
Zephyrs breath hitched at the sound of Cassies voice calling her and she closed her eyes tight before turning around. They both smiled widely at each other. Cass had a bright glint in her eye, while Zephyrs eyes were clouded with an emotion the Gryffindor couldn't decipher.
"Hi." Cassie said softly, Zephyr couldn't help the blush that spread across her cheeks.
"Hey." She whispered in reply. They were the only ones in the dimly lit corridor, the only light coming from the moon shining through the large windows.
The blonde hesitated slightly, fidgeting with her fingers, something Cass noticed but didn't comment on. "So, em, you stayed at the Weasleys, with Fred and all."
"Yeah, yeah I was at mine when-," suddenly, instead of slumping at the memory of her mother kicking her out, Cassie perked up with a smile, "well, when I told Akila- my mother, about...us."
Zephyr sucked in a breath, her heart sped up and she forced down a smile, although Cass saw her lips twitch up slightly, making her bite her lip in excitement. "Listen," Cassie sighed out, "everything that happened at the end of last year-,"
"Oh no, it's ok and I'm so sorry-." Interrupted Zephyr, feeling horrible about the events that caused a wedge in their relationship. Cass didn't let her finish.
"No, no, it's not your fault it's-it's mine and I'm so so sorry. I can't believe I tried to ki-," she cut herself off with a sigh, to overwhelmed to notice the way Zephyr frowned in confusion at her last sentence. "I swear when Dumbledore told me everything, I refused to believe it." Cassandras words were getting faster and faster, Zeph could hardly register them.
"I-I refused because, well because I never thought I'd even try lay a finger on someone I love." Cass confessed, causing Zephyrs eyes to go wide, her heart pounded in her chest and face contorted into one of shock. "I been thinking about you all Summer, the amount of times Fred tried to distract my mind from wandering off to you."
Zephyr scanned Cassies face, her words caught in her throat, as Cass sucked in air with a soft smile.
"Zeph gorgeous, I realised that, I love you, and I know people will say that I'm too young to know any better, but this is the one thing that I'm certain about. You-you don't have to say anything back, sure we aren't even official, I just had to tell you, I had to."
Cassandra was out of breath by the time she finished, she gazed down at Zephyr. Deep brown eyes stared back at her, full with an emotion Cass couldn't quite place, Zephyrs eyebrows were furrowed softly and her lips were slightly parted.
"So," Cass started again, "I-I want to make us official. Zephyr, will you be my-."
She was cut off when the blonde crashed her lip onto Cass'. Cassie gasped in shock, then immediately kissed back. They could both feel the passion and love flowing through their veins. Cass backed Zephyr up against one of the walls, placing one of her hands on the stones beside Zephyrs head and the other on her waist. While Zephyr had her two hands placed on Cassies cheeks.
