Dumbledore wouldn't let Cassandra stay with Caterina in the Hospital Wing, and as she was so tired he was able to simply move her along. So Cass lay awake on her bed, staring blankly at the ceiling above her. She was exhausted, but just couldn't slip into sleep.
Normally, when someone in her dorm couldn't sleep, all four girls would stay awake and chat until morning, or until they all passed out in one bed. But both Angelina and Katie were away with some of there friends in Slytherin, having a sleepover. Then there was Alicia, the girl had disappeared once again, she did that quite often.
Cassie didn't even blink when the door to her dorm creeped open, her mind was completely and utterly blank. She wasn't bothered to lift her head to check who it was, it was probably just Alicia finally coming to sleep.
But a different blonde stood, leaning against the door, gazing at Cass with sad eyes. Even though she was inside the room, she gave a little knock on the wood, to alert Cass of her presence.
Cassandra closed her eyes, holding in a shaky sigh. She knew exactly who it was from the knock alone. It was the secret knock her and Zephyr had made up when they wanted to sneak around, Cass usually perked up when the pattern was knocked on the door of a closet, or her dorm late at night, or an empty classroom. But now wasn't the time, and it won't ever be the time.
When Zephyr accepted she wouldn't get a response, she slowly moved over to Cassies bed. She gently sat down beside the girl, silently begging Cass to open her eyes so she could see the unique blue that swirled around her pupil.
Cassandra felt her mattress dip and a familiar pressure on her chest.
Zephyr listened to the beat of Cassies heart speed up slightly as she lay her head down, the blonde cuddled up to Cass' side and didn't dare speak first.
Cassies throat began to close up and a bad feeling stirred inside of her. "Zeph-,"
"I heard what happened to Cat," Zephyr quickly interrupted, "her little brother came banging on the Slytherin entrance a few minutes ago crying for Chance." Her words came out rushed, but she didn't stop. "His glasses all fogged up, his nose was like a leaking tap. What was weird though, was that Chance actually gave into-,"
"Zephyr." Cassie stopped her with a stern but watery voice, feeling bad enough that Dumbledore wouldn't let her stay with Issac. Zeph pursed her lips, her heart racing.
"Please leave." Cass croaked out, after a loud silence. The blonde didn't move from her position on the bed. "Please just leave me alone." Cassie whispered out.
Zephyr bit her lip, thinking that Cass wasn't just talking about now, but in general. Cassie shuffled and sat up, careful not to push Zeph.
"How did you even get in here?" She questioned, examining Zephyrs face, trying to block out the sorrow in her brown eyes.
