"Wait so, he got his mum to track down an old quaffle cushion, so he could give it to you for Christmas?"Cassandra and Caterina were at their spot, by the small lake in the forbidden forest. Cat, as usual was skating around on the ice, and Cassie was sitting under her tree, doodling in her quidditch journal.
"Well, I wouldn't say 'track down', but yeah, pretty much. Why?" Cassie asked, with a shrug of her shoulders. Cat raised her eyebrows at her friend.
"Well....what did he get Lee?"
Cass thought for a moment, before answering casually. "Well Mrs Weasley knitted him a Weasley jumper, which is like a big thing, you know. But I have to say, the way he got me the cushion, makes me feel special, in a way."
"Chance says he'd drop anything he's doing to help yo-, what are you doing?"
Cassandra had begun to pack her things, standing up, she furrowed her eyebrows. "The quidditch match is in a few minutes......we were talking about it at breakfast?"
Cat sucked in a breath. "Right, right, I was listening, I just, em," she tried to think back to Cassie rambling that morning. But most of the time, when it's about quidditch, she just nods along and smiles, not actually knowing what the girl's talking about. "what are we standing here for. Knowing you, we're going to be late. Let's go!"
Cassie huffed, shaking her head and charmed Cats skates back to shoes. They made their way up to the pitch, when they got there, the two girls went separate ways, the match was Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff. So while Cassie trotted up the Gryffindor stands, searching for the boys, Cat made her way up the opposite stands, that were covered with yellow and black.
Chance didn't really have a preference on who he'd like to win the match, but when he saw an opportunity to sit with Caterina, he volunteered to keep her company straight away. Even if that meant, Cat making him wear a Hufflepuff coloured scarf, that she knit herself. People sniggered at the boy in the hallways, he was obviously embarrassed, but when he would glance down at Caterina's big blue eyes, he didn't dare take it off.
George spotted Cassandra examining the crowds to find the group, and called out to her. "Cassie over here, we got the good seats!" Cassie grinned at the boy when they locked eyes, and made her way through everyone. When she got there, there was an open seat between the twins, while Lee sat on the other side of George. Alicia, Katie and Angelina sat behind them all, shivering but smiling away.
It was only when Cass heard Katie give out about how cold it was, that she realized that she had left her hat by the lake. "Shit." She mumbled to herself. Fred turned to the girl, and quickly picked up on what was wrong. He grabbed his own wooly hat, and pulled it over Cassies head. It was way to big and it covered her eyes, before she lifted it a bit, but she smiled up at the boy and thanked him with a kiss on the cheek.
"Thanks Freddie, I don't know what I'd do without you around." Fred didn't answer, as he was to busy, staring at her, both her nose and her cheeks were a rosy shade, due to the frosty weather, her lips were a bit chapped but her smile was as wide as ever. He blushed and swallowed thickly, gaping a bit, before Cassie gasped and pointed into the air.
"It's starting, Fred look!"
George sniggered at his twin, "yeah Fred, turn those heart eyes, to the sweaty quidditch players." Fred sneered at him, before softly smiling down at the girl, who was now giving her full attention to the players, and then turned to find Charlie on the pitch shaking his hands with the Hufflepuff captain.
Finally Madam Hooch blew her whistle and the match begun.
By the time Hufflepuff called for a time out, Gryffindor was winning by twenty points and Cassies throat was killing her, from cheering. While the teams were huddled around discussing tactics, Angelina leaned forward and tapped George on the shoulder, twirling her hair in her fingers with her other hand.
"Hey Georgie, say, are you going try out for the team next year?" George shrugged, not really bothered, he wanted to talk to Cassie about the match, before it started again.
"Eh yeah, Fred and I want to be beaters, and Cassie wants to be a chaser, so yeah. Eh you?" Angelina giggled, and Cass cringed at the sound. Lee turned around to Angelina and gazed at her, anticipating her answer.
"Chaser." She said. Lee's face lit up.
"I'm actually going to ask McGonagall if I could commentate." Cassie raised her eyebrows and held her breath, ready for Angelina to shut him down. But to her surprise, Angelina turned to him with a look of interest.
"Really? That would be so fun." Lee who obviously wasn't expecting that reaction, coughed a bit and smiled at her, they then continued to chat away, laughing along with each other. George turned his attention to Alicia, who was explaining how she would never step foot near a broom, as she was scared of heights. Katie spoke to a second year beside her and Fred pretended to listen to Cassie rant about the game, when really, he was just admiring her in his hat.
Eventually the players came back out onto the pitch and before anyone knew it, Charlie caught the golden snitch and Gryffindor won. Everyone screamed and cheered in happiness, Cassie jumped into Fred's arms and he spun her around, careful not to slip. When they pulled back, their eyes locked and they both began cheering together.
"We won! We won!"
That night the Gryffindor common room was bursting with music and there was people dancing to their hearts content. Being in first year, Cassie, the twins, Lee and the girls were sent to bed early. Cass ended stealing some sweets and up sneaking up to the boys dorm, for a mini feast
She stayed until George's eyes drifted shut, and soft snores were heard, so she drew a mustache and a unibrow on his face and left but not before offering Fred his hat back.
"Keep it. Think of it as something from your first ever proper live quidditch game." She smiled at him and went to bid him goodnight, when she remembered something. She took her bag off her shoulder and dug around in it, trying to find something.
Then she pulled out her quidditch journal and opened it up on the most recent page, she ripped it out and handed it to Fred.
"That's for you, I hope you like it. Night."
She then turned around and left, hearing a soft goodnight from Fred. When the door shut Fred looked down at the page, it was a little crumbled, from where she ripped it out. Fred's face lit up, it was a moving drawing of them, flying around on their brooms together.
He got a butterflies thinking about her drawing him, and asked Lee for that sticky stuff he used to stick posters up. Lee handed him the blue tack and Fred straightened out the page and stuck it above the headboard of his bed. He then went to sleep listening to Lee ramble about Angelina talking to him, without throwing anything at his head.
