"Hey Puff, whatcha reading. I feel like we haven't spoke in ages."
Cassandra plopped down beside Caterina in the Great Hall. Today was Halloween, jack-o-lanterns were floating above them, goblets with different scary creatures, replaced the normal gold ones and instead of their usual dinners, a large feast was set out in front of them.
Caterina lifted her book up, so Cassie could see the cover. Cass tilted her head slightly and squinted her eyes to read the title. "The Hunger Ga-, what's it about? Chiefs?" She questioned. "Oh dear Merlin. Do they cook the bird? Is that why it's on fire." She cringed at her own words.
Caterina shook her head and sighed slightly, with a smile. Then began speaking at a rapid pace. "No. It's about a girl who practically sacrifices herself for her sister, to go into these games. Everyone in the games has to hunt each other down and murder them, brutally, then when everyone's dead you win. Yeah, the main character kills a couple people, her nickname is the girl on fire and she has quite a temper."
Cassandra stared at her in disbelief, as Cat casually took a sip of her tea.
"She reminds me of you."
Cass wasn't quite sure what to say to that, she debated on just nodding along, but she was still processing the information. "Sounds.... delightful." Cat nodded enthusiastically, just as Fred sat down in front of the pair. He grinned.
"Oh I have been waiting for a nice roll, all day for some reason." He shrugged, as he picked the roll up roughly.
"Careful, don't burn it." Cat laughed lightly, Fred gazed at her in confusion, then he shook his head teasingly.
"You think I'm that hot, why Cat, you flirt, didn't know you had it in you. But don't worry, if I somehow manage to burn it, I'll probably just give it to Cassie, don't want to be wasting anything, do we?" He smiled brightly and sarcastically at Cass, who sneered at him in response. Caterina smirked and let out a snigger.
"Well, eh, I really have to get back to Katniss rejecting Gale again, God it never gets old." She sighed, opened her book and went back to scanning the pages. Cassie watched as Cats eyes lit up and her posture straightened, she smiled softly and refilled the girls cup, with tea.
While Cassie admired Cats love for the book, Fred admired Cassies love for her friends. When she turned to speak to him, he looked away quickly, hoping she wouldn't realize that he was gazing at her. He remembered the time she caught a third year staring at her, she refused to break their eye contact, until the third years eyes started to water so much, they had to look away.
Fred cleared his throat. "Your detention is today right?" Cassie paused in her movements and thought back, as Fred continued to scoff down his food.
"Yeah?" She answered, but it came off as more of a question, the boy didn't seem to notice. "How'd you remember that? I told you ages ago, while you were like half asleep." This time, it was Fred to freeze, he then shifted in his seat and simply shrugged his shoulders.
