Caterina smiled as Cassandra shoved Chance into the Black Lake after taking to long to jump in. She sat down on the sand, as Cassie took off her robes to reveal her white bikini. Cat studied all the scars running along the Gryffindors body with a slight frown.
Cats knew about the scars of course, but only seeing two on a day to day basis. She forgot there was much more than the one slashed across Cassies eye, causing a permanent slit in her eyebrow, which made Cat think of Scar in The Lion King and then the scar peaking out over her robes on her neck.
In reality those scars littered Cass' whole figure and Caterina couldn't understand how the girl could be so confident in showing them all off, not caring what people thought.
Cat dreamed of having her best friends confidence. When George had suggested they all go out to the lake to have a sort of beach day, Cat had cringed at the thought of herself in a swimsuit. She knew none of her friends would judge her, but her insecurities clouded her mind like a plague.
They had only been back at school for less than a week and she's already heard people whispering about the weight she had put on over the Summer. Now Cat would always shy away in the halls, keeping her head down in fear of making eye contact with anyone.
Sometimes when she heard someone insult her, she would wait for Cass to spring up and defend her. But when Cat would glance at her best friend, the girl would always be in some sort of daze, a void expression on her face, no doubt think of a certain Slytherin. Cat didn't blame her of course, but she just hoped that her heartbreak would hurry up.
Caterina glanced up when little splats of water hit off her body. Cassie resurfaced after jumping in and smiled at her.
"Sorry my darling, didn't mean to splash you!" She shouted, before George swam up behind her and grabbed her hips, lifting her up before dropping her back down again, making Cass squeal and splash him, swimming over to use Fred's body as a shield. Fred grinned at the girl, ducked under water and hoisted her onto his shoulders. She clung to his wet red hair and tried her best not to fall back, her expression making Lee laugh.
Cat bit her lip, wanting to get in with the fun, but glanced down the beach and caught sight of a small group of students coming down towards them and decided against it. Then she squinted and realised it was Zephyr, Cho, Visha and Cedric and she smiled brightly at them waving enthusiastically, well mostly at Cedric.
Her smile widened as they all waved back, but then her face dropped as they raced over to the group. Cat glanced at Cassie in the water. This little trip was meant to be for Cass, to try cheer her up a bit, now with Zephyr and Cho here, it felt pointless already.
Cedric reached her first, he grinned as Cat stood up and pulled him into a hug. "I heard the twins talking about a beach day and I just couldn't resist." He explained, then nodded back to the three girls, who were gazing out at the lake. "Then I seen those three and invited them along, cause you know, one of them's with Cass right?"
