Chance and Cassandra strolled through the hallways, after two hours in the library. They were studying for the end of year exams, when Cassie got bored and started teasing Chance, about how he would do anything to make Cat happy. Then Cedric walked in, which just made everything better.
"It's just Cedrics so....charming you know?" Cassie laughed. Chances mouth dropped in shock, and scoffed.
"I am just as charming as pretty boy Diggory." Cass sniggered at this.
"Oh please, you have as much charm as a dead slug." Chance stopped walking, brought his hand to his face, closed his eyes and sighed loudly.
"You keep saying that! If you say that one more time I'm going to throw you out that windo-," when he opened his eyes, Cassie was no longer beside him, and was instead peering out to the courtyard, two stories down, "what are you doing?"
Cassie tilted her head, "Checking how high the drop is, see if it's worth it." She answered casually. Chance sneered at her and nudged her shoulder forward, continuing to walk. The girl laughed and jogged up beside him. "Maybe you should get to know him, you know. Scope out the competition."
The Slytherin rolled his eyes, "I don't have a crush on Caterina!" He shouted out, his eyes then widened, realizing they were in a crowded hallway, and half the people in it, were staring at him. Turning red, he tried to ignore the prying eyes and turned back to his friend.
"Speaking of crushes though," he started in a teasing tone, "I heard about a certain someone." He finished his sentence with a weird accent. Cassie furrowed her eyebrows.
"I don't think I even know anyone, who has an Indian accent, what are you on about?" She questioned, completely clueless. Chance spluttered a bit.
"Wh- what? That was Scottish, and it was good." Cassie held her breath, trying not to make fun of her friend, actually feeling pity on him for thinking that was Scottish. 'Wait Scottish?' She thought, suddenly her cheeks tinted pink, finally knowing who he was referring to.
"He- he is in third year!" She exclaimed quietly, not wanting anyone to hear. "I do not like him like that." She paused, thinking of the boy. "I just like his accent........and he's the Gryffindor keeper.......he likes quidditch just as much as me......oh and-," when she turned to Chance, he was grinning at her like a mad man. "Oh shut up, don't look at me like that."
Chance walked Cassie to her common room, as he usually would, laughing at her along the way about a certain Scottish boy, who just so happened to be on the stairs up to the Gryffindor common room. Cassie froze when she seen him, and pulled Chance back by his collar roughly, behind a wall, almost choking him.
"Oh Salazar, don't kill me." Chance pleaded shutting his eyes tightly.
"Shut up you wuss."
Chance peaked out of one eye, and noticed Cass just looking at him awkwardly. He cleared his throat and fixed his robes, pretending nothing had happened. "Wait what are we doing? Your common room is right there." Cassie forced a smile.
"I just....wanna.....talk to you?" She answered, but it sounded like more of a question. Chance squinted at her a poked his head around the corner, to where Olivier Wood still stood on the stairs, talking to a Ravenclaw boy. Chance gasped and a mischievous grin spread across his lips.
"Well, speak of the devil and he will appear." He escaped Cassie and practically ran up the stairs. Cass stood still for a moment, not knowing what to do, then ran after the boy trying to stop him. But it was too late.
"Hey! Olly Woodling right?"
Oliver bid goodbye to the Ravenclaw and turned to the first year Slytherin, confused. "Eh- Oliver, Oliver Wood actually." He corrected, in his thick Scottish accent, scratching the back of his neck. When his voice reached Cassandras ears, she almost tripped, but she managed to make it up to Chance and put her hands on his shoulders, pushing down, to the point where it was painful.
"Sorry about him Oliver. He......hit his head...." the older boy nodded his head at the girl slowly, but amused at the same time, "as a baby." Chance looked offended at this, and Cassie whispered loudly in his hear, making sure Oliver could hear her. "Hey it's ok, this is an open, safe space, nobody is going to judge you here, ok?"
She turned to Oliver. "Right Oliver?" Oliver stifled a laugh and choked out a "yeah sure, course."
Cassie raised her eyebrows threateningly at Chance, making sure Oliver didn't see and gritted her next words out with a sickly sweet smile. "Are you sure you don't want me to walk you to the dungeons, maybe I could even get Professor Snape, I think I saw him on the way here?"
Chance glared daggers at the girl. "I think I'm good." Then he trotted back down the stairs, when Oliver faced Cass, she could see Chance mouth something to her, 'I'll get you back for this, you Scottish snogger'. She waved at him, wriggling her fingers and looked up at Oliver, cheeks a dusted red.
He opened his mouth to say something, but laughed shortly instead and nodded towards the door, "come on let's go." They both strolled into the common room, chatting away, Oliver went up to his dorm and Cassie sat down with the twins and Lee at a small table.
Fred who watched the whole exchange, forced an odd laugh, or what he thought was a laugh. "I- Chance- why- Oliver- huh wh- ehhh." George sniggered at his other half.
"What Fred's trying to ask, is how come you came in with Oliver, we thought you were studying with Chance?"
Fred nodded his head vigorously and pointed to George. "Yeah what he said." Cassie smiled at them and sucked in a breath.
"Well I was studying with Chance, and I kept making fun of him and Caterina," she explained, while the boys nodded along, "then he started making fun of, well, not really, me and Oliver but-,"
"Because there is no you and Oliver." Fred cut in loudly, and Cass nodded, oblivious to his strange behavior.
"Yeah, so anyway, then we seen Oliver on the stairs on the stairs when we were coming up to the common room, and Chance tried to talk to him to embarrass me-,"
"And you were really embarrassed and Oliver thinks you're kind of weird now?" Fred interrupted once again, eager for her answer, he almost let out a growl when Cassie shook her head side to side, looking at him weirdly.
"No, well maybe, no I don't think he thinks I'm that strange, just a bit, different, no, wait just, let me finish." She hushed him. "I started threatening Chance with my eyes and-,"
This time it was George who cut in and Cassie groaned loudly at the interruption, "how do you threaten someone with your eyes? You can't do that." Lee shook his head, at the boy.
"Oh she can do it, very scary stuff- oh Merlin she's doing it right now, I'm sorry carry on."
Cass shut her eyes tightly and continued through gritted teeth, "when Chance left, Oliver and I spoke and came here together.....that's it!"
Fred examined the table in front of him and turned to Cass, "and by spoke you mean-," Cass picked up a piece of parchment, crumbled it up and shoved it into his mouth. Lee practically jumped up.
"My homework!"
