The next few days were a little hectic between training for my new position at work while scheduling meetings and appointments for the wedding.
Today we were going to our cake tasting, which we were really looking forward to.
"Baby, you look hot." Colby said as I walked down the stairs. "I'm literally wearing a sweater." I said and looked down at the plain black oversized sweater I was wearing.
"Doesn't matter. You're gorgeous." He said and pulled me to him by my waist. "You're so mushy." I said with a giggle as he leaned down and kissed my neck. "I just really love you." He mumbled as my head rolled back, giving him more skin to kiss.
"I love you too, mush ball." I said then pushed him away slightly. "Let's go." I said then turned to the front door.
"Are you excited?" Colby asked as we walked to the car. "Getting to eat cake with purpose? Yes, I'm absolutely excited." I said as we got in the car. "I think we're gonna fight." He said and started the car.
"Oh, definitely." I said with a nod. "It's gonna be fun though. I love cake." He said and took my hand as he pulled out of the driveway.
"I do too. Have you went through the RSVPs yet?" I asked and pulled my phone out with my free hand. "No, we can do that when we get home if you want." He said as I let out a dramatic sigh.
"I want to sleep forever. Can't the wedding plan itself?" I asked and leaned my head on the window. "We can hire someone to do it for us ya know." Colby said with a laugh. "It's too late for that now, plus it's better if you do it yourself." I said as I googled wedding cake styles.
It was kind of embarrassing how little I knew about planning a wedding. I had never been to one before because I didn't really have any family and I was only 26 which meant we were the first of our friends to be getting married.
I had no idea what I was doing.
When we got to the bakery I turned to Colby. "What do you think about this?" I asked and showed him a cake that was on the screen. It was a plain white cake with green ivy and vines cascading down the layers of the cake.
"I like it." He said with a grin. "I was thinking since we are getting married in a barn it would be cute." I said quietly as he nodded. "I agree." He said with a nod.
"You don't have to agree with everything I choose ya know." I said and opened my car door. "I know that. I just think it's a nice cake." Colby said and got out of the car.
"Okayyyy." I breathed out then took his hand. When we walked in we were met with a woman wearing a chef's coat. "Hi, how can I help you?" She asked as we walked up to the pastry case.
"Hi, we're here for a cake tasting." Colby said as she smiled. "Oh, for Brock right?" She asked as we both nodded. "Perfect, come on back." She said then led the way to the back room of the bakery.
"Sara will be right with you." The woman said with a smile then left the room.
"Okay, before we taste anything, what are you thinking?" I asked and folded my hands in front of myself. "Hmm..definitely chocolate." Colby said as I pursed my lips.
"Oh...we're gonna have a problem." I said with a laugh. "You don't like chocolate cake?" He asked as I shook my head. "No, I love chocolate cake but it's kinda boring." I said and scrunched my nose at him.
"Well we can't be boring now can we?" He asked as the door opened. "Hey guys! Are we ready to taste some cakes?" The woman, who I presumed was Sara, said.
"Yes!" I said and clapped my hands together. "Okay, I brought some of our most popular flavors to try. Do you have any idea what you're looking for?" Sara asked.
