When I woke up the next morning, I could feel the dread sitting in my chest. I really didn't want to leave today. I sighed then looked over at Colby as he soundly slept next to me. I sighed then kissed his cheek before crawling out of bed so I could have my coffee on the back deck before we had to start packing up.
I sat down and looked out into the ocean, trying to bask in the beauty for just a little bit longer as I drank my coffee slowly. I sat there for only a few minutes before Colby came outside. "Good morning, beautiful." He said then came over and gave me a kiss.
"Good morning, How'd you sleep?" I asked quietly as he sat next to me. "Like a rock. How about you?" He asked as I smiled slightly. "I slept alright." I said then took a sip of my coffee. "Our flight leaves at 3 so I was thinking we could get some lunch then head to the airport." Colby said as I nodded.
"That works. I reallllly don't want to leave." I whined as he laughed. "I think your skin does though, because you're burnt." He said with a laugh and pressed his finger onto my red shoulder.
"I would let my skin burn off of my body completely if it meant I got to stay here with you." I said and frowned at him. "I know, baby. This has been the best trip I've ever been on." He said and stood up so he could reach his hand out to me and help me up.
"Really? None of your 25x25 trips have been better? Or your annual boy's trip?" I asked as he helped me stand up. "Nope. This is the best trip ever, hands down." He said as we went inside so we could pack our stuff up.
"Why is that?" I asked as we walked to the bedroom. "I can't have mind-blowing sex with the guys like I can with you." He said as I laughed. "Is that all I am to you?" I asked and raised my brows at him. "Yes." He said as I gasped. "I'm kidding!" He said with a laugh as I shook my head and started packing my stuff up.
"Suuuure." I said as he came over and wrapped his arms around my waist. "You know that you're everything to me." He said as I laughed. "I know, I'm just fucking with you." I said then winked. "Hmm..well I was only half kidding...we should definitely have honeymoon sex just one more time." He said as I turned around so I could face him.
"Ya think so?" I asked as he lowered his lips to my neck. "Mhmm." He said then kissed my neck as he pushed my bag onto the floor before lifting me up and tossing me onto the bed.
An hour later we were finally going back to unpacking. "Well...we don't have time to get lunch anymore." I said with a laugh as I carefully packed everything up. "My lunch was really good." Colby said with a shrug as I laughed. "Shut the hell up. I guess we're eating airport food." I said then went into the bathroom so I could get my stuff from in there.
We spent the next hour or so making sure we had everything. "Bye beautiful bungalow...I'll miss you forever." I said and waved to the living room as we walked to the front door. "Thank you for not blowing away in that storm." Colby said with a laugh. "Yes, thank you." I said with a laugh and opened the door.
"I'm sad." I said as we walked down the board walk and towards the main building of the resort so we could return our keys. "Aren't you at least a little bit excited to sleep in our bed at home?" Colby asked as I nodded.
"Yeah, I guess I'm excited for that." I said with a sigh as we walked up to the front desk. "Checking out?" The lady behind the desk asked as Colby put the keys on the desk. "Unfortunately." Colby said with a sigh. "Well we hope you come see us again soon. Have a safe flight!" She said as we both smiled and waved.
"We'll be back one day." Colby said as I nodded in agreement. I didn't know if that was necessarily true but I definitely wanted to manifest it. I was excited that I married Colby though because I knew that we were going to have a very adventurous marriage full of fun trips but you only got to have one honeymoon ever.
It was really bittersweet.
When we got to the airport we were running late which was mildly stressful. Security was running slow so we didn't end up even having time to grab any food before we had to go to our gate.
"Massive fail." I said as we plopped into our seats. "We can get a meal on here, don't worry." Colby said as I nodded and cuddled into my seat. I was surprisingly exhausted even though I slept really well this entire trip. I assumed that it was because we were always moving and being in the sun and that could be really draining.
I didn't even have a chance to order any food before I fell asleep. I woke up a few hours later, feeling groggy.
"Good morning." Colby said with a laugh as he handed me a banana. "Thanks. How long did I sleep?" I asked and stretched. "Only three hours." He said as I ate the banana he gave me. "Oh, I'm starving." I groaned as my stomach ached.
"Here's a menu, babe." He said and handed me the menu so I could order some food. I ended up getting some pasta and garlic bread which was actually kinda good.
"I can't wait to cook again." I said as I took a bite of my pasta. "What are you gonna make?" Colby asked as I shrugged. "Hmmmm, I don't know. Hopefully no crisis cookies though." I said as he laughed. "I actually wouldn't mind a crisis cookie right now." He said as I curled up in a ball again.
"Give me like...two days." I said as he shook his head. "I won't let you be in a crisis, don't worry." He said as I nodded. "I'll hold you to that." I said then pointed at him.
We spent the rest of the flight watching movies together and trying to unwind and relax before we got back to the hustle and bustle of LA.
I found myself actually feeling a little bit excited as we landed at LAX. Now that I was back home, all I wanted to do was get in my bed.
When we got off of the plane I sighed and took Colby's hand. "Honeymoon, over." I said as he squeezed my hand. "Don't be sad, baby. We're going to have many more vacations and adventures." He said as I nodded.
"Yeah, you're right." I said with a small smile as we walked towards baggage claim. We were able to get our bags fairly fast which was good because I was ready to be home. When we got to the car Colby looked at his phone.
"Everything okay?" I asked as he nodded. "Yeah, Sam might come over later." He said then locked his phone and started driving us home. "That's fine. I missed him." I said with a yawn. "I bet he missed you too." He said as I leaned my head on the window.
I was already feeling tired again which made sense because it was 4am in LA. "I'm gonna sleep forever." I said with a yawn as Colby pulled into the driveway. "I don't blame you." He said with a laugh as he parked the car.
"I'm almost not unpacking for a week." I said as he chuckled. "Right, I totally believe that." He said as we got out of the car. "I won't have to pack. I'm gonna be living in my scrubs from now on." I said then grabbed my bag and started going inside. "The grind is real." Colby said as we walked inside.
We were both so tired that when we got upstairs we dropped our stuff then immediately crawled into bed. I hated that our honeymoon was over because I truly did just want to live there forever and be far away from all of our problems.
I had to admit though that I really missed our bed.
