"Is it your turn?" I grumbled as the girls screamed in the other room for the tenth time tonight.
"I don't know." Colby said then scrubbed his face with his hands. "I'll go." I mumbled then rolled out of bed. "Let's go together." He said then rolled out of bed as well.
Colby and I have gotten almost no sleep tonight which wasn't a surprise considering the girls were in a completely different place than they've been for the past two weeks so they were trying to adjust.
When we got to the nursery both girls were screaming loudly. "Alright, girls. What's got you all upset?" I asked and pulled Nova out of her crib.
"Do they need to eat?" Colby asked as I shook my head. "No, they ate an hour ago." I said with a sigh as I bounced Nova against my shoulder.
"I think they're just stressed out." I said with a sigh as Colby bounced Luna. "I hate that they are struggling so much." I said and chewed my lip as I ran my fingers through Nova's hair.
"I know, baby. They're doing great now though." Colby said quietly as Luna fell asleep against his chest. "They just love cuddles." I said quietly and swayed back and forth.
"They really do. They are so fucking cute." He said as I giggled. "We have the cutest girls ever." I said and kissed Nova's head as she fell asleep against my chest.
We laid them back in their cribs then went back to bed. When we got to bed I cuddled into Colby's chest as he scratched my back gently. I sighed with content then closed my eyes and let myself dose off.
I woke up about an hour later to little cries coming out of the baby monitor. I sighed then got out of bed, careful to not wake Colby up. I stretched for a second before making my way into the nursery.
"What are you doing up, love?" I asked as Nova cried and kicked her legs out. "You're probably hungry now, huh?" I asked and pulled her out of the crib. I held her against my shoulder before sitting in the rocking chair so I could feed her.
Usually I would feed the girls at the same time but I didn't want to wake Colby to help me so I was just going to do it one at a time.
I fed Nova, then burped her. By the time I was done with that Luna was awake and ready to be fed.
"Come here, honey bun." I said then scooped her up and sat down. I fed her then burped her before rocking her to sleep.
I felt a certain sense of pride as I laid her down in the crib. I was absolutely exhausted and was in a lot of pain but knowing I was able to calm the girls down was a huge accomplishment to me.
I stood and watched them sleep for a while before I turned to leave the room. Before I could even take a step though, Luna started to fuss.
"Shhh, it's okay darling." I said quietly then caressed her cheek, causing her to fall asleep again. I sighed then plopped down on the rocking chair, letting out a breath as I melted into the seat.
I didn't realize that I had fallen asleep there until I was being shaken awake.
"Hmm?" I hummed as I cracked my eyes open. "Shhh, you fell asleep. I'm gonna bring you to bed." Colby said quietly as I nodded and wrapped my arms around his neck so he could carry me to the bedroom.
I was already asleep again by the time he got to the bed.
I woke up a few hours later to the alarm I had set so I could feed the girls. I noticed that Colby wasn't in the room with me which meant he was probably in the nursery.
I got out of bed then stretched before trudging towards the nursery.
When I got in there I could see Colby sitting in the rocking chair, shirtless, with both girls curled up on his chest.
