"So what's the plan for the day?" Kat asked as we started eating our lunch.
"Well I think we were going to take the girls hiking if you wanted to join." I said and rocked Nova as I popped a fry into my mouth.
"That sounds fun! Do you have the cute little hiking harnesses for them?" Ki asked as I nodded. "Yeah, we haven't tried them out yet so they might be a huge fail but we have them." I said and looked over at Colby.
"They won't be a fail. These cuties were born to be nature girls." Colby said as I nodded. "Yeah, I agree." I said then looked down at Luna.
She was sleeping soundly in Colby's arms, which was possibly the cutest sight in the whole world.
"So it's settled, we're going hiking." Sam said as we all nodded. "Then we can grab some dinner and go back to our hotels." Colby said and took a bite of his pizza. "I can't believe you guys are willing to spend another night there." Ki said as I shrugged.
"It really wasn't that bad." I said then took a bite of my salad. "Yeah, the nightmares weren't fun though." Colby said as I nodded. "Yeah, could do without the nightmares." I agreed as Sam nodded.
We sat and enjoyed our lunch for the next 45 minutes or so. "What did you guys think?" Chad asked as he came over. "It was amazing, Chad. I'm so proud of you." I said with a smile as Colby grabbed his card to pay for the food. "I know you're not trying to pay right now." Chad said as Colby chuckled.
"What else would I be doing?" He asked as Chad scoffed. "You aren't paying, it's on me." He said then winked as I breathed a laugh. "Are you flirting with my husband?" I asked as he nodded. "Absolutely." Chad said as Jarrod came over.
"Hey, someone needs to talk to you about a catering order." Jarrod said to Chad causing him to nod. "Will I see you again before you leave?" Chad asked as I shrugged. "Hopefully. We may come back for more cheese sticks." I said with a laugh as Kat nodded. "YES. We need to come back for those." She said as Chad laughed.
"Bet." He said as we all slid out of the booth. "Bye, Chad." I said then gave him a hug as Nova fussed in my arms. "I'm sorry, sweetie." I whispered then kissed her head before turning to put her in the stroller.
"We should probably change the girls before we go hiking." Colby said as I nodded. "You're so right." I said then stood up straight and reached for Luna. "I'll go real quick." I said then let him lay Luna in my other arm.
I grabbed the diaper bag then made my way to the bathroom. "Okay, cuties. Let's get you changed so you can go hiking!" I said then opened the changing table. I carefully laid a blanket down, then laid both of the girls on the table.
"Are you excited to hike?!" I asked and tickled then tummies as they smiled up at me. "Yeah, I am too." I said then grabbed the diapers and wipes from the bag.
I was honestly impressed with how skilled I had become when it came to changing both girls at the same time.
Once I was done changing them I pulled them into my arms and went to make my way to the RV. "Hey, V?" Jarrod asked as I walked out of the bathroom. "Oh, hey." I said with a smile. "Are we okay?" He asked as I scrunched my brow. "Yeah, why wouldn't we be okay?" I asked as he sighed.
"I don't know." He said and huffed out a breath. "We're okay, things have just changed since I lived here." I said as he nodded. "Yeah, I want to catch up with you...ya know since things have changed." He said as the girls fussed.
"Yeah, we're just really busy. I'll see what I can do, but I have to go now." I said as he nodded. "Okay..you look good by the way..happy." He said as we walked towards the front door. "I am. I'll maybe see you later." I said then smiled at him. "Okay, V. Have fun." He said then waved as I walked out of the restaurant.
"Okay, girls. Let's go hike." I said with a smile as I walked to the RV. "How'd it go?" Colby asked as he opened the door for me. "Oh! It went well. I feel like I have like 6 arms when I change them." I said with a laugh as he took Nova from me.
"Yeah, it's really impressive." He said with a laugh as we got the girls situated. "Do you have a specific hiking trail in mind?" Sam asked as I nodded. "Yeah, I can drive if you want me to." I said as he nodded.
I ended up driving us to my favorite hiking trail. I was so excited to see the Colorado mountains which I loved so much.
As soon as I parked I made my way to the back so I could help get the girls in their harnesses. "Okay, Miss Luna. Let's get you strapped in." I said then grabbed my harness and strapped it onto my body.
"Oh my god, I'm obsessed with milf Violet." Ki said with a laugh as I grabbed Luna and strapped her in. The girls were still pretty small so we had to put them in so that they were facing us instead of facing outwards.
"That's me, a milf." I said with a laugh as Colby nodded. "The milfiest." He said as Sam laughed. "Alright, let's calm down." He said as Colby smirked.
"Sorry, Sam. You're the milfiest, I take it back." He teased as he strapped Nova to his chest. "That's right." He said then turned to go outside. "Let's gooooo!" Kat said with a giggle as we made our way outside.
"You look really cute." I said with a smile as I walked next to Colby. "You do too." He said with a wink as Luna rested her head against my chest. "I think we made a mistake." I said with a laugh as we walked up the trail.
"Why do you say that?" Colby asked as I rubbed Luna's back. "I think they're gonna fall asleep." I said with a laugh as he nodded. "Yeah, but maybe they'll wake up when we get to the top." He said as I shrugged. "Maybe, but it's okay if they don't. They're cute as hell when they sleep." I said with a smile as Nova fussed.
"Oh, you're tired, aren't you?" Colby cooed as he rubbed her back gently, causing her to settle into his chest. "Yeah, shhhh. Go to sleep, angel." He said then kissed her head.
"Look at this view!" Ki said as we walked. "It's so nice out here, dude." Sam said as he wrapped his arm around Kat. "Yeah, I wish it was snowing though." I said with a sigh as Kat giggled.
"You're the only person in the world that would rather have it be snowy on a hike than have it be sunny." She said as I breathed a laugh.
"The hundreds of people that hike snowy mountains don't exist, eh?" I asked as she chuckled. "I'm sure they would rather be hiking in the sun though." She said as I shrugged. "Maybe." I said as Luna fell asleep against my chest.
We ended up hiking for an hour and half before we finally made it to the top of the trail. I felt like I was going to cry as I looked over the edge, seeing the beautiful landscape that I loved so much.
"It's beautiful." Colby said quietly as I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder. "It is." I whispered as my eyes watered. "Hey, are you okay?" Colby asked as I nodded. "Yeah, I just miss it." I whispered and rubbed Luna's back as she fussed slightly.
"I know, love." He said then kissed my head. It was such a surreal moment, knowing I was standing in the same spot that I stood when my parents and I came here all those years ago.
I was so happy that I could share such a special place with my little family.
We stayed up there for a while before we decided to go back down. The girls ended up waking up about halfway through the hike back down to the RV. I was obsessed with watching them take in the nature around them.
Luna would look around with so much wonder in her eyes it made my heart absolutely melt. Nova was a little fussier, hitting Colby's chest as she cooed loudly, which was also extremely adorable.
"Thank god, I'm so tired." Kat groaned as we made our way back to the RV. "Yeah, fuck exercising." Ki said with a laugh as we got in the RV. "You guys are lucky you get to sleep when you get back to the hotel though." Sam said as Kat snorted. "You've clearly never taken care of the twins overnight." She said as Colby and I got the girls out of the harnesses.
"They aren't that bad." I said with a laugh as I sat down so I could feed them. "No, but they suck at not waking each other up." Ki said as I nodded. "Yeah, I guess you're right." I said then started feeding the girls.
As we drove back to the hotels I felt my heart warm up. I was so glad I went on this trip because I seriously have missed Colorado so much.
I was just so happy.
