I spent the next couple days in the hospital slowly starting to recover. It was hurting a lot, but it was nothing I couldn't handle.
"Are you ready, love?" Colby asked as I carefully swung my legs over the edge of the bed. "As ready as I'll ever be." I said then took his hands so I could stand up.
I groaned slightly from the pain then took a few steps to get to the wheelchair that was in front of me. "Aaaand sit." Colby said and held my hands tightly as I lowered myself into the chair.
"Fuck yeah, we did it." I said then held my hand up for a high five. "Hell yeah, can't wait to see how proud we'll be when we get to the house." Colby said and smacked my hand with his.
We made our way to the front entrance where Sam was waiting. "Ooooo I get the Tesla to pick me up?" I asked with a laugh as Colby wheeled me towards the car. "Only the best for you." He said with a smile as Sam opened the car door.
"Hey, V!" Sam said with a smile as I waved. "Hi, Sam. Thanks for picking us up." I said with a smile. "No problem, I'm glad I can help." He said with a grin.
"Alright, baby. You got this." Colby said then took my hands so I could stand up. "Shit, that hurts." I said quietly as the pain radiated in my abdomen. It wasn't too bad but it was enough pain to be really uncomfortable.
"You're doing great, buddy." Sam said and held up a thumbs up as I sat down in the car. "Nailed it." Colby said as he held his hand out to give me a high five. I smacked his hand and let out a breath as I leaned back in the seat.
"Let's go home." Colby said then leaned down and kissed my cheek before closing my door. Sam got in the drivers seat and Colby got in the back.
"Are you hungry? Did you want to stop somewhere to pick up food?" Sam asked as he started driving us home. "I would love some mac and cheese." I said with a giggle. "Of course you would." Colby said with a laugh.
"I love mac and cheese." I said and looked out the window. We stopped at Panera on the way home to get some food before going home.
"Don't move." Sam said as he and Colby got out of the car. "It's not that bad guys." I said with a laugh as Colby opened my door. "Yeah, you're gonna walk but you'll have two spotters." He said then reached his hands out to take mine.
I took his hands then pulled myself up, groaning slightly. "You got this, babe." He said as I stood up straight. "Yeah, I got this." I said then let go of his hands so I could talk.
It seriously wasn't that bad but I felt like I was going to throw up from the pain.
"Fucking hell." I groaned as we slowly walked to the front door. "Want me to help you?" Colby asked as Sam opened the door. "No." I said then continued walking.
When I got inside I huffed out a breath then started for the stairs. "No stairs, V." Colby reminded as I groaned. "I want to lay in our bed." I said and pouted my lip out dramatically. "I think you'll want to wait." Sam said as I squinted at him.
"Come on." Colby said then looped his arm through mine so he could lead me towards the living room. "What's going on?" I asked as we walked into the room.
"Welcome home!" Kat, Ki, and Tara yelled causing me to flinch back. "You guys scared the shit out of me!" I said with a laugh. "Sorry! We got you a cake though." Ki said and held the cake out so I could see it.
It was a round cake from the grocery store that said 'fuck you appendix' on it. "Thanks guys." I said then walked over to the couch so I could sit down.
"You're welcome, we're glad you're okay." Kat said as Colby handed me a blanket. "Me too, that would have been a bummer if I died before the wedding." I said as Sam unpacked the food.
"Yeah, let's maybe not do that." Colby said with a laugh then left the room. "So since you're on bed rest I was thinking we could plan some of the little things for the wedding." Ki said as I chewed my lip.
"We were gonna take a little break from planning but I guess stress wasn't the reason for my pain." I said with a laugh. "We can wait! I just thought you'd be bored since you can't really work." She said as I shrugged. "Yeah, you're probably right. We'll see." I said as Colby came back with a big glass of water and sat down next to me.
"Thanks, babe." I said then took a bite of my mac and cheese. "So how are you feeling?" Tara asked as she settled into the couch across from us.
"It honestly just feels like a combination of being sore from working out too much and being stabbed with a knife." I said with a laugh.
"Oh, good. I love the feeling of being stabbed." Sam said sarcastically. "Yeah, it's not the most comfortable, but it's manageable." I said and leaned into Colby.
"You're stronger than me." Kat said and stole Sam's bag of chips. "I'm trying." I said with a shrug.
Everyone ended up staying for a couple hours before they went back to their places. It was so nice of them to welcome me home considering they didn't live here.
They didn't have to do that.
"Can we try to go upstairs?" I asked as Colby looked at me wearily. "I don't know, V." He said and scratched the back of his head. "Please? I just want to lay in our bed." I pouted as he sighed. "We can just set up in the guest room..I don't want to rip your stitches." He said as I shook my head.
"We won't. I'll be super extra careful." I said then pouted my lip. "Alright, but once you're up there, you're up there." Colby said sternly I nodded.
"Yes, sir." I said then started to stand up. "Oof. I don't recommend a ruptured appendix." I said as he laughed. "Yeah, I wouldn't really suggest it either." He said and walked with me to the stairs.
"You should get your appendix taken out. I'm serious." I said then looked up at the stairs. "I don't think they just take them out for no reason." He said then wrapped his arm around me so he could support me as I walked up the stairs.
"THIS is the reason. They should take it out." I said then let out a breath as I focused on getting up the stairs. "Okay, I'll talk to them." He said with laugh. "Good." I said as we got up the stairs.
"Success." I said then high fived him. "Proud of you, babe." He said then started walking towards the bedroom.
"I wish I could take a bath." I said with a sigh as we slowly walked towards the bed. "I wish you could take a bath too." He said then looked me up and down. "Stop it." I scolded as I got in the bed.
"I can't help it, you're just so hot." He said then kissed my cheek. "Yeah yeah, give me a couple weeks." I said then laid back in the bed.
Colby ended up grabbing his laptop so we could watch old videos. It was something that we did from time to time to relive our adventures together.
We haven't had much time lately to go on adventures because of work and wedding planning. I wanted to go somewhere so bad, but I didn't know how to bring it up to Colby.
A couple years ago we decided to go see a medium so I could figure out why I was so emotional around spirits. She mentioned that I'm and empath and partially clairvoyant. The idea of this freaked Colby out a little bit because it meant I would see and hear shit when I was in haunted places.
I didn't mind it so much because I knew it was never my emotions I was feeling but I understood where he was coming from. He just wanted to protect me but I was itching to go on a haunted adventure.
Maybe I could convince him since it's been a few years.
