"Let's try this again." Amy said with a smile as I looked over at the girls.
Today we were trying to pass the car seat test for the third time. They failed twice because they were too small, but we had a good feeling about this time.
"Come on girls, we can do this." I said with a laugh and puffed my cheeks out at them, trying to get them to smile.
They were almost two weeks old at this point so they were a little more active than they were as newborns. They were starting to get a little more personality too.
Nova was more sassy than Luna. She would fuss way more and always cried to get our attention.
Luna was a quiet sweet girl who just wanted to be cuddled all the time.
I loved how opposite they were but they also did the same things sometimes. They both had this cute little grin that they would do when Colby or I were acting silly.
It reminded me of Colby.
"It's okay, honey bun." I said as Luna looked up at us and fussed in her seat. "She wants us to hold her." Colby said with a laugh. "Our little koala bear." I said as he grinned.
"I'm gonna call her that from now on." He said as I crouched down and took Luna's fingers, rubbing her knuckles slightly to calm her down.
When I did this Nova started fussing. "Uh oh, better give her some attention." I said with a laugh as I looked up at Colby.
"On it." He said then crouched down in front of Nova. He started making faces at her to distract her from the discomfort she was feeling.
We waited about an hour before Amy came back into the room. "Okay...let's check them." She said then checked the girls' vitals.
"Congratulations. You're going home today." Amy said after a second. "Yayy!!" I said and shook Luna's hand as her eyes widened slightly.
"You get to go home!" Colby said with a smile as Nova grinned up at him. "Yeah!" He said then brushed her cheek gently.
"Before you go, I want to go over a few things about your recovery." Amy said to me as Colby started packing up our stuff.
"You've been doing really good with your recovery so far, but I don't want you to rip any stitches or anything. No sex for at least 4 weeks. You can do light exercise in two weeks but refrain from lifting heavy things." She said as I nodded and listened carefully.
"Did you hear that?" I asked Colby as he chuckled. "No lifting heavy things." He said as I rolled my eyes. "Or sex for four weeks." I reminded as he shrugged. "Didn't hear that part." He said as Amy chuckled.
"If you have any questions don't hesitate to call. Congratulations on your beautiful girls." She said as I smiled. "Thank you so much for everything." I said then reached down and went to pick up Luna's carseat.
"Of course. Good luck." She said as Colby chuckled. "We're gonna need it." He said then picked up Nova's carseat. "You'll be fine! You're naturals." She said as I nodded.
"That's very nice but we are literally going to be a mess for a good month." I said as she shook her head and led the way out of the room. "No, you'll be pros before you know it." She said as we made our way down the hallway.
When we got to the car we carefully set the carseats up, then got in the front.
"Oh, I'm terrified." I said with a laugh as soon as we both closed our doors.
"We're going to be okay. No matter what happens we're gonna have each other." Colby said then took my hand and squeezed it gently. "You're right. Now put both hands on the wheel." I said with a laugh then looked back at the carseats.
