The next week and a half was pretty hectic between going to work and doing last minute wedding planning.
It was honestly a good thing that I have been so busy because it didn't give me much time to overthink.
Today we were picking Colby's family up from the airport since our rehearsal dinner was tomorrow. It was insane how quickly everything was going so I was trying to just savor every moment.
You only get to marry the love of your life once.
"Babe! Did you wash the sheets for the guest rooms?!" I asked as I ran around, cleaning every surface. "Yes!! They're in the dryer!" Colby yelled out as I groaned happily. "Thank you! God, I love you." I said as he came into the kitchen.
"I think you're getting a little too stressed out." He said as I scrubbed the counter. "I'm not stressed. I'm just excited." I said as he chuckled.
"You're gonna crash ya know." He said and checked his phone. "Me? Never." I said as he nodded. "I'll remember that. Did you want to come with me to the airport?" Colby asked as I sighed.
"I'd love to but I have to finish things up, when are you leaving?" I asked and looked at the time. "In like...five minutes." He said as my eyes widened.
"The house is a mess!! We can't host anyone in the next five minutes!" I said as he laughed and took my hands.
"V. The house is spotless, plus they are only staying here tonight since we are all staying in a hotel tomorrow night. They don't care about that sort of stuff anyways. They know how busy we have been." Colby reminded gently as I sighed.
"I guess I am just a little stressed.." I said with a dry laugh as I looked around. "I know you are. That's why I'm cutting you off." He said and took the sponge from me, throwing it in the sink.
"Bro, I have to finish." I said and looked at the wet counter. "Shhh...no." He said then led me towards the living room. "I'll wipe the counters, you just sit for a minute." He said as I laughed. "Yes, sir." I said and saluted as he walked away.
I sat there for a few minutes, scrolling on my phone before I got up to go put the clean sheets on the beds in the guest rooms.
"Violet Renee!" Colby yelled as I fluffed the sheets onto the bed. "You suck at this whole sitting thing." He said as I laughed. "They need clean sheets and you know it." I said and pointed to him.
"Whatever, I'm gonna go get them. Just take it easy and don't stress so much okay?" He asked and came over to me. "I'll try." I said then gave him a quick kiss.
Once I was done with making the bed in this guest room I moved to the other one. As soon as I was done making that bed I went to our bedroom and started packing for tomorrow night.
Our venue was an hour away so we were just going to get ready at a hotel that was close by then stay there that night.
No matter how many times I reminded myself that our wedding day was only two days away I couldn't wrap my head around it.
I couldn't believe it was finally here.
I was half way through packing when my phone started ringing. Kat was trying to FaceTime me, so I propped up my phone and answered it.
"Hey." I said and folded up a pair of sweatpants. "Hey! What are you doing?" Kat asked as she and Ki came into view. "Packing for tomorrow." I said as Kat squealed. "I'm so excited!! We have to be at the venue at 6 right?" She asked as I went to grab my lingerie.
"Yeah, 6. We'll go through the ceremony then have dinner. Then we will all go to the hotel and go to sleep." I said and continued packing. "Then we wake up and get pretty and go to your wedding and you and Colby live happily ever after!" Ki said as she clapped her hands together.
"Yeah." I said with a smile as my heart warmed up. "Are we getting drunk tomorrow night?" Ki asked as I laughed. "I won't be but you guys are more than welcome to." I said with a laugh. "I feel like we should have a spa night!" Kat said with a smile as I finished packing.
"Sounds good." I said and zipped up my bag. "Okay, We're gonna bring your dress to the hotel tomorrow night, just don't forget your veil." Ki said as I nodded. "I won't. Okay, I have to go now. I have to finish cleaning before Colby gets home with his family." I said then went to go back downstairs.
"Okay, babes. We'll see you tomorrow." Ki said as I blew them a kiss. "See ya." I said then hung up. I then went into the kitchen and started cleaning again. I knew I was supposed to be done with cleaning but I was just so antsy.
The anticipation of the wedding was actually killing me on the inside. I wanted to keep myself busy so I wouldn't freak out.
I don't know how long I was cleaning for before the front door opened. "VIOLET!" Gage yelled as he ran into the kitchen, pulling me into his embrace. "Hi, Gage." I said with a laugh. "How's my favorite little sis?" He asked as Colby brought in all of their bags in.
"I'm not your little sister yet." I teased as I went to hug Colby's parents. "T-minus 48 hours though." Colby's mom said as I hugged her. "I'm so excited." I said as I hugged Colby's dad. "How are you doing, kiddo?" Colby's dad asked.
"I'm good. Things have been pretty crazy around here lately." I said with a laugh as we walked to the living room. "I bet. Is there anything you need us to do?" Colby's mom asked as we all got settled on the couch while Colby brought their bags to their rooms.
"Uhhhh...I think we are okay. Don't hold me to that answer though." I said with a laugh. "Whatever you need, we'll be here for you." She said as Colby came into the room. "Thank you." I said as Colby sat next to me.
"Are you guys hungry?" Colby asked as he wrapped his arm around me. "Starving." Gage said as Colby chuckled. "Alright, how about some pizza?" He asked and pulled his phone out. "Sounds good to me." Colby's dad said as I nodded in agreement.
We ordered pizza and started talking about how the next couple days were going to go.
"So where are you going for your honey moon again?" Colby's mom asked as we ate. "Bora Bora." Colby said as she groaned. "Oh, I've heard it's beautiful there!" She said as I grinned at her. "Colby wouldn't let me pick anywhere cold." I said with a laugh as I took a bite of pizza.
"Why on earth would you choose somewhere cold?" Gage asked as I shrugged. "I love snow." I said then took another bite. "Snow is beautiful, I wish we didn't move where there's no snow." Colby's mom said with a sad sigh.
"If you've never been to Colorado I highly recommend going there to see some snow." I said with a smile. "That sounds like a great idea, doesn't it Layne?" Colby's mom said and looked at Colby's dad. "Maybe for our anniversary." He said as she nodded. "I'll hold you to that." She said with a grin.
We ended up hanging out in the living room for a while before I felt myself falling asleep. I didn't want to admit that Colby was right, but I was finally crashing. I could hear everyone talking but everything was fading away as I closed my eyes.
"V." Colby said quietly as I groaned slightly. "You tired, baby?" He asked as I nodded slowly. "I'm gonna take her to bed." He said then lifted me into his arms. "Say goodnight, V." Colby said with a laugh. "G'night." I mumbled as I leaned into Colby's chest.
"Goodnight, Violet." Everyone said in unison as I waved lazily. Colby then carried me up the stairs. "Don't say it." I said as he sat me on the bed. "Say what?" He asked with a laugh as I pulled my sweatshirt off leaving me in just my sports bra. "That you told me so." I said then laid in the bed.
"Oh...heh...told you so." He teased as I pulled the covers over my shoulder. "Annoying ass." I grumbled as he leaned down and kissed my head. "Goodnight, beautiful. I love you." He said causing me to breathe a laugh.
"I love you, too." I said then pulled the covers over my head. I fell asleep almost instantly after he left the room. I was kinda glad that I had crashed because I didn't know if I would have been able to sleep if I didn't. I was just so jittery and anxious about how the next couple days were gonna go.
I just wanted it to be perfect.
