A couple days have passed which meant today was the day of our gender reveal. I was both excited and nervous to find out the gender of our baby.
I personally didn't care, and I knew Colby didn't care either but I was just nervous that people would somehow find a way to be disappointed.
I stood in front of the mirror and smoothed out my pale yellow dress with a small smile. I was really starting to pop out which was both exciting and nerve wrecking. I just felt like I wasn't ready to become a parent yet.
I wanted to think I would be ready by the time it came but I had no idea if I would. Being a mom was a huge responsibility, but it was something I had always wanted to do.
I remember when I was little I would ask my mom if I could be a mom and she would tell me yes, then would give me an egg to take care of. I was so grateful that I had a mom that supported me in everything I wanted to do. She was truly such a sunshine in my life.
I knew if I was anything like my mom I would be a good mom.
"Babe." Colby said as I shook my head and looked over at him. "Hmm?" I asked as he grinned. "You ready?" He asked with a laugh. "Yeah, sorry." I said with a laugh as I turned to leave the room.
"Are you okay?" Colby asked as he followed me out of the room. "Yeah! I was just zoning out. I'm always zoning out." I said with a sigh.
"Yeah, that's okay though. You've got a lot going on." Colby said and grabbed his keys. "Yeah, I'm starting to get pregnancy brain too." I said as we walked to the car. "What makes you think that?" He asked as we got in the car. "I'm wearing two different kinds of shoes right now." I said and looked down to see that I was wearing a white van on one foot and a black van on the other.
"Aw, shit. Did you want to change?" He asked as I shook my head. "Nah, I think it looks cool." I said with a laugh then put my hand on my belly. "Yeah, it does." Colby said as he started driving.
As we drove to the traphouse I looked down at my belly, feeling the joy flutter in my chest. I was getting really excited for when the baby would start kicking. I knew the second I felt the first kick I would be melting for the rest of the pregnancy.
I already loved this baby so much but it was going to be on a new level within in the next couple weeks.
When we got to the house we went in to see a bunch of pink and blue decorations along with a cake and a bunch of food. "There they are!" Kat said happily as she clapped her hands together. "In the flesh." I said with a laugh as we walked into the room.
"This is so nice, you guys really didn't need to go so full out." Colby said as Ki came over to us slowly. "You're such a cute pregnant girl." Ki said with a laugh as I hugged her carefully. She was still recovering from her injury but she was strong so she was doing better than expected.
"Are you hitting on me?" I asked as she nodded. "Absolutely. Let's take this to the back." She said then wiggled her brows. "Not with those broken ribs." I said then winked at her. "Are you guys hungry? We have a bunch of snacks." Sam said as I nodded.
"I'm constantly hungry. I could eat this entire table of food right now." I said and grabbed a plate. "I dare you to do it." Xepher said as I laughed. "Don't test me." I said and started grabbing a bunch of food.
"She seriously will eat everything. She ate pizza crust dipped in pickle juice the other day and I haven't looked at her the same way since." Colby said as Tara laughed. "That sounds so good." She said as Jake frowned.
"Gross, Tara." He said as I shook my head. "It was really good." I said with a shrug then went over to where Devyn and Cassie were. "Hey! How are you feeling?" Devyn asked as I walked over. "Good, I feel way better than I have the past couple months." I said with a smile and sat down so I could eat.
"That's good. You're literally glowing." Cassie said as I smiled. "Yeah?" I asked as she nodded. "Yeah." She said as Kat came over. "Okay, we're taking a poll. What do you think the baby is?" She asked as I breathed a laugh. "Adorable." I said with a shrug as she giggled. "Well, yeah. What gender though?" She asked as I shrugged.
"Hmmmm well Colby is saying girl so I'll say boy." I said then looked at Cassie and Devyn. "I agree with V." Devyn said as Cassie shook her head. "No way. It's totally a girl." She said as Kat wrote down our responses. "Thanks! We're just waiting on a couple more people then we're gonna do the reveal." She said then skipped off.
We sat and enjoyed some food as more of our friends showed up. I was so happy that everyone wanted to be involved in finding out the gender of our baby. I thought it was cute how genuinely excited they all were for us.
"V!" Ki called out from the kitchen. "Hmm?" I asked and stood up to walk over to her. "I just missed you." She said as I nodded. "Nice, I missed you too." I said with a laugh then sat down next to her.
"Have you started the nursery yet?" She asked as I put my hand on my belly. "We finally moved the desks out of that room so Xepher is coming over to draw on the walls so I can paint them." I explained as Colby walked over and wrapped his arms around me.
"This one is gonna let you paint?" Ki asked and gestured to Colby. "I'm gonna wear a mask and do it in small increments. I don't have a job so I have all the time in the world." I said with a shrug. "Okay fair." She said as Kat clapped her hands together.
"Okay guys! We're ready to do the reveal!" She said with a giggle as I looked up at Colby. "Did you want to FaceTime your parents?" I asked as he nodded. "Yeah, that's a good idea." He said as I stood up.
We slowly made our way outside where Kat had set up two big balloons. We didn't want to do anything super crazy or creative because the gender seriously wasn't a big deal to us. Kat just really wanted to make it special for us and we couldn't say no to her.
"Can you hold my parents?" Colby asked Corey as we walked outside. "Yeah, Hi Mr. and Mrs. Brock!" He said with a smile as he took Colby's phone. Sam was going to film this for us in case we ever wanted to post it, but more importantly so we could have this moment captured for forever.
"Okay, here's a needle for you." Kat said and handed me a needle. "And here's a needle for you." She said and handed Colby another needle. "We're gonna count down, you guys stab your balloons one three." Kat said as I nodded.
"I love stabbing things." I said and looked at Colby as he shook his head, laughing at me. "Is everyone ready?" Kat asked as we scanned the crowd. Everyone was watching us with wide smiles on their faces. A couple people were taking pictures but mostly everyone was just watching us.
"Ready." Sam said as he pointed his camera at us. "Mom? Dad? Ya ready?" Colby asked as they both held a thumbs up. "Okay...count down from three." Kat instructed as Colby and I got positioned to pop our balloons.
"Three....two..." The group yelled as I smiled at Colby. "One!" They yelled causing Colby and I to stab our needles into the balloons causing them to pop.
I heard an outpour of cheering happen as pink confetti flew through the air.
I looked over at Colby as he smiled and pulled me in for a kiss. I giggled and wrapped my arms around his neck as he grinned against my lips. "I knew it." He said quietly as I giggled and hugged him.
"I can't wait to dress her up, oh my god!" Devyn squealed happily as everyone swarmed us to give us hugs. "Are you happy?" Ki asked as she gave me a hug. "Of course, I can't wait to meet her." I said quietly and put my hand on my belly.
I genuinely meant what I said when I said that I didn't care about the gender but the fact that I was going to have a mini me running around was causing my heart to flutter.
We stood outside for a little while, celebrating before we went inside and ate some cake. Kat had gotten the cake so that it would be pink in the middle which I thought was a good touch. As they cut the cake I looked over at Colby who was talking to his parents over FaceTime.
I felt my heart flutter in my chest at how excited he looked. I knew he wanted to be a girl dad so he could spoil her like she spoils me, so he was super happy. I couldn't wait to see how great of a dad he was going to be
I knew he was going to be amazing.
